We are delighted to share some wonderful feedback following a recent SEND review visit to London Colney Primary & Nursery School.

The reviewer praised our inclusive culture, the warm welcome given to children and families each morning, and the way staff intuitively respond to pupils' individual needs. Parents spoke incredibly positively about the school, saying they would strongly recommend us and highlighting how staff consistently go the extra mile to support children and families.

Our pupils shared that they feel safe, supported and know exactly who they can turn to when they need help. The reviewer also recognised our commitment to maintaining high standards for all children, including those who are disadvantaged, alongside the effective deployment of our teaching assistants.

Particular praise was given for our well-developed systems and processes, our flexible and adaptive approach, and the knowledge staff demonstrated about individual children's needs and the support provided to help them succeed.

We are incredibly proud of our staff, pupils and families. Together, we continue to ensure that every child feels valued, supported and able to thrive.

Thank you to everyone who makes London Colney Primary & Nursery School such a special place to learn and grow. 🌟

Today our school community came together for a truly inspiring pupil‑led assembly raising awareness of Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome.
One of our brave Year 1 pupils spoke with incredible confidence and maturity as he shared the story of his little brother’s journey. His courage and love shone through, and he helped all of us understand this serious congenital heart condition with such clarity and heart.
Our pupils listened beautifully and asked thoughtful, compassionate questions, a real reflection of the empathy and curiosity we are so proud to see in our school community every day.

🌟 Strengthening Our Partnership with Higher Education 🌟
This week, we were delighted to welcome working with a university researcher and English education specialist to learn more about the innovative work taking place across our school.
The visit focused on how schools can prepare pupils for an increasingly multi-modal world, where communication extends beyond traditional written texts to include film, advertising, digital media, picture books and visual storytelling. It was wonderful to share the exciting learning experiences our children are engaging with, including work on advertising, local community visits, film studies and the use of rich, high-quality texts.
The university was particularly impressed by the thoughtful way our pupils analyse the purpose and intended impact of different media, as well as our whole-school commitment to developing literacy through picture books, graphic texts and wider reading opportunities.
The discussions also highlighted how closely our work aligns with current developments in English education and curriculum thinking. We are excited to continue building links with the university, contributing to educational research and exploring future opportunities for professional development and collaboration.
We are incredibly proud of our pupils and staff, whose creativity, critical thinking and enthusiasm for learning continue to attract recognition beyond our school community.

πŸΎπŸŽ‰ We are delighted to share that our school dog, Reggie, recently took part in a special training and assessment day with Jenny from the Dog Mentor Company, alongside Ella and Emma. 🐢⭐

πŸ’› Reggie loved his day and thoroughly enjoyed meeting Jenny. She commented on how wonderful it was to see Reggie so comfortable in his environment already and how clear it is that he will excel in his new role as a Dog Mentor. πŸŒŸπŸ•

πŸŽ“πŸ… Reggie passed with flying colours and is now officially a qualified Dog Mentor! He has received his official certificate and will soon be seen around school proudly wearing his orange Dog Mentor jacket. 🧑🐾

πŸ“šπŸ€ The Dog Mentor Programme builds on the positive benefits of the human-animal bond by providing children with positive experiences with dogs that support them educationally, developmentally, emotionally and socially. The aim of the programme is to offer a universal approach within schools that supports social, emotional and mental health and wellbeing, while also enhancing curriculum-based learning to improve educational outcomes. 🌈✨

πŸ‘πŸΆ We are incredibly proud of Reggie. He is a valued and much-loved member of our London Colney family. ❀️🏫
