🥾 Huge congratulations to our Year 10 students!

Last weekend, they successfully completed their qualifying Duke of Edinburgh’s Award expedition. Throughout the trek, they demonstrated excellent teamwork, resilience, and determination.

Despite a few challenges along the way, they supported one another, stayed focused on their navigation and campcraft, and pushed through to reach their goal. Well done to everyone involved for a fantastic achievement! We are incredibly proud of you all. 🌟

📊 Year 6 became data analysts this week! 🕵️‍♂️🕵️‍♀️

Our young mathematicians took charge of their own investigations, exploring everything from favorite ice cream flavors to preferred school subjects. 🍦📚

The children followed the entire data lifecycle:
1️⃣ Deciding on their research question ❓
2️⃣ Surveying the year group and recording findings using tally charts 📝
3️⃣ Transforming their data into clear bar graphs 📈

Finally, they put on their analyst hats to interpret the results and make reasoned statements about their collections. It was a fantastic, hands-on way to develop essential data handling and reasoning skills.

We really look forward to our choir visiting the local care home Alexander Care Centre. This visit is a wonderful opportunity for our students to share their musical talents with the local community while bringing enjoyment and companionship to care home residents. It also helps students develop confidence, empathy, and a sense of community engagement.

What an incredible evening! 🎶✨

We were honored to host the 2nd ever Federation Celebration of Music, welcoming the phenomenal talent from our sister schools, Prendergast School and Prendergast Ladywell School.

While the performances on stage were absolutely breathtaking, what moved us most was the atmosphere in the room. The genuine support and enthusiasm our students showed for one another truly captured the spirit of our community. 👏❤️

Lewisham Book Awards: Creative Challenges (Part 3)
The creativity at this year’s Lewisham Book Awards just keeps reaching new heights! For our third highlight, we’re diving into the Creative Challenges, where students were tasked with designing posters inspired by the themes and titles of our shortlisted books.

🌟 Artistic Brilliance
In an incredibly short amount of time, students produced posters that were nothing short of professional. From bold typography to evocative imagery, they truly captured the heart of the stories they read.

✒️ Words from the Authors
Our guest authors, E.L. Norry and Jamila Gavin, were genuinely blown away. They spent time exploring the gallery of work, noting how impressed they were by the depth of talent and the unique interpretations of their own acclaimed books.

Part 2 of our Lewisham Book Awards highlights! We were absolutely delighted to welcome two powerhouse, award-winning authors to Prendergast Vale: E.L. Norry and Jamila Gavin. ✍️📖

The atmosphere was captive as they shared personal stories about their lives and the unique sparks of inspiration that drive their writing. Our visiting students didn't just listen, though—they got stuck into the creative process!

What went down:
Creative Challenges: Students designed incredible posters reflecting the themes and titles of the authors' acclaimed books.

The Big Vote: After diving deep into the literature, students officially cast their votes for their favorite authors of the year. 🗳️

Deep Dives: We wrapped up with an insightful Q&A session, where our young readers grilled the pros on everything from character building to overcoming writer's block.

A Celebration of Stories at Prendergast Vale! Part 1
We were incredibly privileged to host the Lewisham Book Awards this past Friday! It was an inspiring day as schools from across the borough gathered in our halls to celebrate a shared love for reading.

Students took centre stage to cast their votes for the authors and books that captured their imaginations this year. We were also deeply honoured to welcome some of the shortlisted authors in person—stay tuned for more highlights and photos from the event!

Our current and prospective GCSE PE and BTEC Sport students had an incredible time yesterday at the World Table Tennis Championships 🏓

They got up close to the action, watching some of the best athletes from around the world compete at the highest level. Students were fully engaged throughout, asking insightful questions about the components of fitness on display and analysing the outstanding techniques used by elite players.

A fantastic experience that brought sport to life beyond the classroom!
