When you pick up your child from daycare and notice them in unoccupied play, onlooker play, or associative play, it doesn’t mean they’re lonely, being ignored, or that the teacher isn’t engaging them enough.

Just like adults, children don’t always feel like being social or active.

Sometimes, they simply want to watch, observe, or explore on their own, and that is perfectly okay. Observing the world around them is a beautiful and important way for them to learn, grow, and understand their environment.

So, what do these types of play mean?

Unoccupied Play:
Watching the world and not playing yet. It’s how kids start to learn.

Solitary Play:
Playing alone with toys. It helps kids focus and use their imagination.

Onlooker Play:
Watching others play without joining in. Kids learn by observing.

Parallel Play:
Playing next to someone but not together. It’s a step toward teamwork.

Associative Play:
Playing near others and sharing toys but not working together.

Cooperative Play:
Playing with others to reach a goal, like building or pretending.

It’s totally okay if kids like one type of play more than another. Every kind of play helps them grow and learn in their own way.

Our little graduates are officially off to big kid school this week, and we couldn’t be prouder! Watching them grow, learn, and build confidence has been such a joy — and now they’re on to their next exciting chapter. 📚🚌
To our preschoolers: We’ll miss your bright smiles and big personalities, but we know you're going to shine in kindergarten and beyond. You've got this! 💛

We had the best day at Deen city Farm! 🚂 We took the train to get there, and it was such a fun ride. Once we arrived, we explored the farm, met some adorable animals, and even fed the goats. 🐐🌾 The fresh air, green fields, and friendly animals made it a perfect day out with the family. Can’t wait for our next adventure here!

Summer term trip, we had an exciting adventure in London! We started by taking a fun ferry ride from Woolwich to see the big city from the water. After the ferry, we hopped on a bus that took us all the way to Westminster. There, we saw the famous Big Ben standing tall. We also got to look up at the London Eye, a huge, spinning wheel that lets you see the whole city from way up high. It was such a special day with lots of fun sights and sounds, very busy.

A day full of giggles, splashes, and sunshine at Elephant Springs!
Took our Preschool and Families on a trip they won’t forget- from exploring nature to water play, their smile said it all. So proud of how well they represented our Preschool. Moments like these make it all worthwhile.

We sadly said goodbye to our leavers, we wish them all the best at Big School and they will all be missed dearly.
