Had a lovely catch-up today with one of our students, Victoria, who has just completed the OHE course.
Over the coming weeks we'll be sharing more of her student journey: how her role has changed since taking the course, and how her practice went from having no oral health educator to seeing first-hand the difference an OHE can make. The team now really values having an oral health educator, and it's been wonderful to hear how well supported Victoria felt with DNN every step of the way.
A big thank you to Victoria for so kindly agreeing to share her story, from student to newly qualified oral health educator. There's plenty more of her student journey to come, so do keep an eye out.

This year marks our 16th year. Dental Nurse Network was founded in 2010 by a registered dental nurse, built from one simple question: what's next for dental nurses? That one question is what gave rise to the Dental Nurse Network. And there are plenty of dental nurses today asking questions of their own: how do I develop myself as a dental nurse? What career options are there for me? Where could I head to next?
Since then, our inspiration stories have become one of the most valued parts of our website: real dental nurses sharing real journeys, and showing just how far a career in dentistry can go.
Next week we are launching our brand new website, and as part of that we want to share even more inspiring stories. We would love to include yours. Click the link for more information.

🦷✨ We love to see what our students design on our Oral Health Education course!
Every student brings their own creativity to the way they teach patients about looking after their teeth, and honestly, it makes us so proud to see what they come up with.
On our Oral Health Education course, you will learn how to design your very own patient resources, so you can get inspired and creative with the way you deliver oral health education.
You will also be invited to join our inspirational webinars, and to become part of a community of dental nurses who are leading the way in prevention.
If you are ready to plan and deliver oral health advice with real confidence, this is the course for you.

The CPD deadline is nearly here: 31 July 2026.
The GDC has changed its system, and you can no longer go back and edit a previous CPD year once its submission window has closed. We used to be able to go back and change any hours if we found we had made an error, but that option has gone.
That makes checking your record now more important than ever. Take a few minutes this week to look at what you've completed, add up your verifiable hours, and make sure everything is logged in time.
A quick reminder of the rules: dental nurses need a minimum of 50 hours of verifiable CPD across the five-year cycle, and at least 10 hours in every two consecutive years. Don't leave a gap you can no longer go back and fix.
A few hours short? We've got free verifiable CPD to help you close the gap before the deadline. Read our latest article for everything you need to check, link in bio.
✨ We had a brilliant webinar last Thursday, Is oral health education for you? with Abbi Castle, all about the role of the oral health educator and the rise of the nurse-led prevention clinic.
One of the things we brought up was the importance of tailored promotion messages and oral health sessions for those going through perimenopause and menopause. When hormones change, the mouth changes, and it's still rarely part of the conversation. 🦷
We'll be doing a full webinar on providing tailored oral health sessions to both these groups shortly. Make sure you're on our mailing list so you don't miss your chance to join us. 📩 Link in bio.

She was anti-fluoride. We were eating chocolate. 🍫
A friend asked me a question recently. "What do you think about fluoride?"
She was genuinely worried about brushing her children's teeth with fluoride toothpaste. Not the varnish at the practice, the tube in her own bathroom. And she wanted to know what I honestly thought, because she knows what I do for a living.
She isn't unusual. There is a growing movement against fluoride, in toothpaste as much as anything else, and plenty of families have quietly stopped using it altogether.
What I said instead took about twenty seconds, and I watched her change her mind in front of me...
