Congratulations to Blair, our Lochgilphead Schools Link Student of the Year. Blair fully applied himself throughout his course, listening carefully, staying dedicated to his work, and even taking on extra responsibilities like cleaning, fixing equipment, and helping set up the classroom.

Always supportive of his classmates, Blair guides others through tasks in a way that’s clear and encouraging. He represented himself and the college brilliantly at a wind farm conference in Edinburgh, engaging confidently and asking thoughtful, professional questions about the industry.

We're very sorry to announce the passing of our dear friend and colleague Lizzie Button (possibly known to many of you as Mrs McCarron)

In just over a decade at the school she contributed hugely, not only to the teaching of science, chemistry and physics, but also as a leader of Duke of Edinburgh, a scout leader and through her commitment to the school's Badminton Club.

Everything Lizzie did was underlined by her no-nonsense approach, commitment to high standards and her punchy sense of humour.

We will be taking time to consider the best way to create a lasting memorial to Lizzie. Our thoughts are with her family and friends at this sad time.

Senior pupils have contributed to a new photography exhibition at Taynish Mill. This was done in partnership with Kilmartin Museum and NatureScot. If you have a chance, we highly recommend a visit.

Pupils from S3-S6 recently visited the Royal Highland Show where they learned about Scottish food production.

Well done to Iris Phillips & Maisy Bowden for their achievements in the 2026 Global Burger Challenge, run by Quality Meat Scotland and Food & Drink Federation Scotland.
Pupils had to develop a burger that reflected the flavours and spices of a chosen country or continent. Central to the challenge was the use of high-quality Scottish red meat. Pupils had to evaluate their creations based on five comprehensive pillars: the authentic integration of global flavours and traditions, the environmental and nutritional impact of the product, and a realistic analysis of production costs and retail overheads. Additionally, they had to develop a strategic marketing and packaging plan for a retail or food service setting and provide a final reflection on the diverse skills and careers required throughout the burger’s journey from farm to fork.
In Home Economics, Maisy and Iris created a 'Christmas Burger' which took them to the finalist stages of the competition which is a fantastic achievement!

Final full week of nominations with a great mix to almost end the term. Fantastic to see so many pupils receive nominations with the reintroduction of the Pupil nominations as well as the Fun Pupil Activities organised by Mrs Craven!
