⭐️ Without imagination, without emotion, without wonder, our brains don't retain information very well (scientific fact).

⭐️ I taught in UK classrooms for 10 years before moving into the online tutoring space. In that time I spoke to parents, students and other academics and they were happy to give me their opinion on science.

⭐️ Often, what I heard was that for many people, science is a methodical, cold subject that leaves no room for the imagination. Full of maths, formulas and rules. B-O-R-I-N-G. H-A-R-D.

⭐️ People would much rather be reading Harry Potter or acting, singing or maybe being inspired by history or the idea of travel... and I agree with them! Why learn something so sterile when life can be so much fun?

⭐️ Well, for me, science is all of these magical and wonderful things. My message, my mission in teaching is to find the MAGIC in an energy transfer, find the MUSIC in a sound wave, find the WONDER in a sunset over a foreign city within science.

⭐️ It is ALL there⭐️

⭐️ Without imagination, science is nothing. Without imagination, questions don't get asked. Too often it is delivered in an analytical, methodical way that leaves no room for the WONDER.⭐️

⭐️My lessons aim to shine light on the wonder and magic of science ⭐️

✨✨Physics fact: the atoms in your body were created in ancient stars ✨✨ the atoms were forged in ancient star factories fusing together the very fabric of matter ✨✨

So, some of my online work sees me tutoring science to students for whom English is not their first language.

❤️❤️❤️Today an email landed in my inbox that has left a warm glow in my heart. It was from a mum who does not have a lot of English, so she wrote to me. ❤️❤️❤️

It told me how happy her daughter is in class and how moved she is by the work that I do.

✨✨✨✨✨

Teaching is about more than transferring knowledge. Before working with me, her daughter was not confident to speak and would often write or draw what she wanted to say. But now, she speaks and shows me what a talented student she is!

✨✨✨✨✨

This isn't to blow my own trumpet.

✨✨✨✨✨

It is to let you know that I believe in each and everyone of my students no matter what their individual stumbling block may be.

That faith in their ability to be the best they can be is enough to bring out their light and confidence and allow them to shine!
