Pure Welsh

Pure Welsh A smallholding in South West Wales with a fibre flock of Shetland and Shetland/Gotland X plus other cross breeds.

The fleeces are processed into various yarns, batts and slivers or sold to hand spinners at various wool shows. Yarns etc are available by visiting the farm or at fibre shows, as well as online by contacting us. We also offer farm visits to meet the sheep and lambs (after April), you might even have the chance to cuddle a lamb.

Next weekend I will be at a new Wool show at the Newark Knitting and Wool Show at the Showground with lots of other wonderful stall holders.

I will have a variety of our yarns ranging from 4ply, DK to chunky, slivers and batts plus loads of raw fleeces, all from our flock of Shetland, Shetland Gotland X and Llanwenog here in South West Wales.

There will also be some fleeces available from local farmers to support them. I have picked the best Lleyn X and Aberfield fleeces, all skirted and picked over for you.

Looking forward to seeing you all next weekend at this new venue.

What a brilliant first day yesterday.

Thank you to everyone who bought fleeces from our flock, but also several fleeces I brought in from 2 of my local farms. The Aberfield and Lleyn X fleeces were getting snatched up all through the day and this will make Farmers Ian and Eurig very happy. Only a couple of fleeces left for today.

Also some small taster packs still available.

See you later on this glorious Sunday ๐Ÿ˜

This time next week, I will be heading down to Newbury for the Southern Wool Show. Really looking forward to this lovely venue.

I had to miss out on 2 other wool shows due to a rotator cuff injury and bursitis, but with the help of physio exercises and cortisone injection, my shoulder is finally as good as it has been. It is such a relief, it had really impacted on my ability to drive and of course knitting.

In addition to the various slivers, batts and natural coloured yarns from my Shetlands and Llanwenogs, I will be bringing a selection of raw fleeces. Also some smaller packs for you to try a breed new to you before you commit yourself to a whole fleece.

There will be Shetland, Shetland/Gotland X and Llanwenog fleeces from our flock, and from neighbours I have sourced some amazing Quessant, Aberfield and Lleyn X fleeces.

I will be in the Grandstand in my usual spot. Looking forward to seeing you all next weekend.

I think the sheep look quite happy and content.

Weather has cooled down enough to be so much more comfortable ๐Ÿ˜

Gras is plentiful, they seem to spend a lot of time laying down cudding.

Countdown has begun.

There is a short window of dry weather and we getting our haylage cut.

Normally we cut, tedder, bale and wrap our own grass into small bales, but due to the short break in the weather, we are getting the big boys in.

On Monday Daffyd will row up the grass, bale and wrap everything into large bales, all in time before the rain arrives again.

Fingers crossed ๐Ÿคž

These are the next Wool Shows I will be attending in May and June.

There are some exiting new venues coming up on my schedule later in the summer and autumn as well. More about them soon.

Will have a great selection of 4ply to DK yarn, slivers and batts as well as raw fleeces from our flock of Shetland, Shetland/Gotland X and Llanwenog raised on our farm in South West Wales.

Pop by and find out more and squish some yarn....

Currently sorting and labelling the remaining yarns and slivers to take with me to
Wonderwool Wales this weekend.
It might be the 20th Anniversary for Wonderwool Wales, but it is also our 10th Anniversary.

This was our first stall in 2016, with the small range of various Llanwenog and BWM yarns and blends. I still remember knitting the blanket; every square has a different pattern and used all the yarns from our sheep. How this has changed over the years.....

Over the last 6 years we have added Shetland and Shetland/Gotland X to our flock, which have such an amazing range of colours. We have a range of yarns from 4ply to DK, going from white to cream, fawn, moorit, grey to black. Also slivers and batts for hand spinning and felting.

And I will be bringing a selection of raw fleeces for anyone, who likes to go through the complete process and spin their own yarns.

Hope you pop by and say Hi, my stall is M3 in Hall 2.
