Our third and final summer session.

Laura, our life model for the evening, chose to offer a collection of poses which portrayed different emotions — anger, fear, grief and pain. We had some very different and intriguing poses, and I loved how eager Laura was to explore some very tricky positions.

Our second session of the summer and we had ten poses of between 2 and 35 minutes, ably held by Tom our life model for the evening.

After a short break, we started our mini-block of summer sessions last night with our life model bringing in one of her hammocks.

Spent a few hours at National Museum Cardiff today and just wanted to share a pic of Barry Flanagan's anthropomorphic 'Small Nijinsky Hare' on here.

Low on detail but packed full of movement and energy, it's a really great little bronze work. Definitely worth a look if you're there.

[I made one museum staff member a little nervous when I went to take this shot and then found that the Degas bronze was in the way. I was a bit too close for her liking, I think!]

Life Drawing Summer Sessions start next Wednesday!

We welcomed much cooler conditions for our last session of the block, one that presented the usual mix of rapid and longer poses plus a memory drawing exercise.

A busy session. We had a warm up of quick gesture drawings, a memory drawing exercise and also a go at creating a composite drawing assembled from two separate poses.

All in all, artists were presented with 12 poses of different lengths during the session, and some chose to draw multiple drawings of the same pose, so yes, very busy.
