A reminder that Year 7 and Year 12 learners only will be in school all day tomorrow (Thursday).

Year 13 learners are to attend from 2pm tomorrow for a session with Mr Jones.

The new school year is fast approaching! 📚

From September, pupils in Years 7 and 8 living in households receiving Universal Credit will be able to apply for the Welsh Government’s expanded Free School Meals scheme, following the removal of the income threshold 🍴

This is the first phase of a wider rollout to other secondary school year groups 🏫

A brilliant three-day holiday club for 11 of our Year 9 learners.

The group had a packed few days, including:
A day in school playing football and bench ball
A 5K coastal walk to Atlantic College
A day out in Porthcawl
And, of course, a trip to McDonald’s on the way back!

It sounds like the learners were absolutely brilliant throughout – a huge well done to all 11 for getting involved, supporting each other and making the most of the opportunities.

A big thank you to Mr Tomsa and Mr Hall for organising and supporting such a great week.

YEAR 11 PUPILS CELEBRATE GCSE RESULTS AT LLANTWIT MAJOR SCHOOL

Proud pupils at Llantwit Major School are celebrating their GCSE results today.

Staff and pupils are delighted with the results, the culmination of years of hard work.

Exceptional performances are noted for the following pupils:

Sam Lee who achieved A*s across the board- a staggering 12 in total! – Sam is pictured with Dan in picture 1.

Ronnie Revers who achieved 9 A*, 3 As and a Distinction in Additional Maths - picture 3.

Ffion David who achieved 10 A*, 2 As and a Distinction in Additional Maths - picture 2.

Muhammed Kazmi who achieve 9 A*, 3 As and a Merit in Additional Maths - picture 4.

Dan Winter-Hartley who achieved 10 A*, 1 B and a Distinction in Additional Maths- pictured with Sam in picture 1.

Headteacher of Llantwit Major School, Charlotte Robins, said,

“As well as celebrating these staggering individual successes, it is important we acknowledge how proud we are of each and every one of our Year 11 learners. These results are richly deserved and testament to all of their hard work. Well done Year 11!”

A quick reminder that Year 11 and Year 10 learners can collect GCSE results from 8.30am - 10.30am tomorrow morning. The uniform store will be open at the back of the hall during this time.

RECORD BREAKING A LEVEL RESULTS FOR LLANTWIT MAJOR SCHOOL!

Llantwit Major School are delighted to be celebrating their best A Level results ever! Nearly half of the year group achieved the very highest grades, with a staggering 46% of learners achieving grades A/A*, 89% of grades achieved were A*/C and 99% A*/E.

Each and every one of our learners did brilliantly and are an absolute credit to the school. A few notable performances include:

Maddison Lindsay who achieved A*, A, A, A, and is now off to Harper and Keele University to study Veterinary Medicine- picture 1.

Mathew Bramhall achieved A*, A* in Psychology and Geography and a Distinction* in Sport, a remarkable combination of outstanding academic and vocational success.
Alex Robson achieved A, A, A, Distinction* 3As in Geography, Psychology and Welsh Bac and a Distinction * in Sport. Abigail Fisher secured an impressive A* A* A- Matthew and Alex feature in picture 2- along with Director of 6th Form, Rob Jones.

Bethan Rendall achieved 4 A grades- picture 3- along with Director of 6th Form, Rob Jones.

Rob Jones, Director of Sixth Form, said, “I am so proud of this year group’s achievements. This exceptional set of A Level results truly reflect the dedication and resilience of each and every one of our students. Well done, Year 13- hard work pays off!”

Charlotte Robins, Headteacher of Llantwit Major School, said, “these record breaking results reflect not only the hard work and determination of our students, but also the dedication of our talented staff and sixth form team and the strong culture of aspiration that is integral to Llantwit Major School’s Sixth Form. Governors, staff and families are immensely proud of each and every one of our talented pupils and we look forward to learning of their continued success as they move on to this next exciting chapter of their lives.
