A brilliant couple of days with Fergus and Connor from Falcon Boat Club for an Open water canoe leader training on Llyn Tegid. Unfortunately the conditions didn't materialise so I've invited them back for another day.

No water, no problem. Always fun to be had in open boats!

AI posters!! 🤖

Did you know an advert that's been created with AI uses between 0.5 to 5 litres of water!

The environmental toll of Ai doesn't sit well with me so all of my advertisements will not be generated by Ai.

Keep an eye out as I'll be putting more course dates together soon and as always get in touch if you want a course put together to suit you.

What a brilliant few days introducing this family to the world of canoeing. Philip got in touch, wanting to introduce his wife and daughter to canoeing, a keen sea kayaker Philip has fancied hopping in a canoe for a while and with a family trip to Canada planned now was the time.
With a day on Llyn Tegid, a couple of days on the Dee and topped off with a paddle around the Anglesey coast it's fair to say they achieved a lot in four days!
Fancy getting out on the water? Get in touch, we'll create a course to suit your wants and needs!

You may have noticed I haven't posted much recently, that's because I've been away paddling the Bloodvein working with Paddle International and Liam Green. The Bloodvein has been on the list for some time due to its cultural significance, amazing whitewater and boreal wilderness. It certainly didn't disappoint. I've been lucky enough to lead four trips to Canada now and it's somewhere that should be on every canoeist's bucket list, with another trip out there already on the cards for next year, the Canadian wilderness is somewhere I'll always be yearning to get back to.
Excited to get back to running courses on home turf however and I'll be putting out more course dates soon.
If you're looking to get out on the water then get in touch!!

What is a Canoe Symposium? 🛶✨

Whether you’re a seasoned paddler who practically lives on the water or someone who just bought their first paddle, you might have heard the term Canoe Symposium thrown around. But what actually happens at one, and why should you go?

Let’s break down everything you need to know about these annual events.

🛶 The Ultimate Gathering for Canoe Paddlers
At its heart, a Canoe Symposium is an educational and social festival dedicated entirely to open canoeing. It brings together paddlers of all skill levels, top-tier coaches, equipment manufacturers, and outdoor enthusiasts for a weekend (or day) packed with learning, sharing, and community.

🌟 What Can You Expect at a Symposium?

1. Expert Coaching & Skill Workshops 🎓
From perfecting your J-stroke or tackling a local whitewater river to learning open-water navigation or moving water rescues, you have the chance to book onto structured workshops tailored to every ability level delivered by the UK's best Canoe Coaches

2. Gear Demos & Try-Before-You-Buy 🛠️
Ever wanted to test out different canoe designs, custom wood paddles, or the latest safety kit? Manufacturers and artisans often bring their gear for participants to test right on the water.

3. Inspirational Talks & Evening Socials 🏕️
When the sun sets and the paddles are packed away, the fun continues! Expect good food and drink, guest speakers sharing epic expedition stories, slide shows, and plenty of chance to network with fellow paddlers.

4. A Welcoming, Inclusive Community 🤝
These events are renowned for their encouraging, friendly atmosphere where everyone qlearns from each other.

🎯 Who Should Attend?
- Beginners: Gain confidence, learn safe techniques, and try different equipment early on.
- Intermediate Paddlers: Refine stroke efficiency, learn advanced maneuvers, and build rescue skills.
- Trippers & Explorers: Discover new routes, gear setups, and tips for long-distance journeys
