My first post since Ed moved on, at least it gets me out of the workshop and tools down briefly. I'm pleased to confirm that WOW continues to build on the legacy that we've established over the last few years. I hope that you can all continue to support our work, shout about it, & share it: lets get to as many kids as possible. Attached, a sneak preview of our next project all set for Jan 2026. For those of you interested in process the attached sketch gives an idea of how we work. An in-depth chat with staff and children about the room, how it'll be used, who's using it and importantly, some ideas on theme. Here we've got some local reference in the form of Runcorn Bridge. I then go away and come up with some rough sketches. All being good, it's a thorough measuring of the space and on with the build. I'll post the progress as we, well, progress. Russell

Further WOW Clarification

WOW Education continues under the sole management of Russell Kirk, since I started WOW I needed to find an inspirational and creative genius who could design and build the concept that I had dreamed up and I found Russell.

For ages I have happily just been the tea boy with client engagement ( as I’m so crap at building or painting anything, although I became a dab hand with a glue gun ) but I believe that Russell and WOW Ed will go from strength to strength and achieve even greater things.

It’s been one hell of a ride, we’ve laughed, we’ve argued, we’ve stropped off ( mostly me ) from each other but there is NO WAY we would have delivered structures and safe spaces to over 20,000 school kids without him.

A million thank yous to all of you who have written so many lovely comments since yesterday and I never realised just what WOW and our work meant to so many. I read many of them with a tear in my eye and a lump in my throat but I now move on to still fighting for the best education system we can create in order to give our pupils the best possible opportunities

It is with a load of sadness that as from today I have resigned my position of co Founder of WOW Education.

This has been entirely my own decision and I leave WOW Education in the more than capable hands of Russell Kirk

My dream of WOW was to enthuse, inspire and motivate young people to get the most out of their time in education and in the five short years we have given access to around 20,000 young people to one of our theme spaces and classroom to which I will always be proud of.

There are so many people that have been unbelievable amazing, there have been so many heads that have inspired me and so many teachers who do their amazing job for all the right reasons

I am not leaving Youth Services and or Education as there is still so much to change and I will forever have an obsession to make sure the system delivers the best possible opportunities for our young people.

My heartfelt thanks goes to all my family and friends who have given me support, love, care, advice and encouragement since I first had the dream of WOW and to Russell, thanks for putting up with me.

So our brief was to make this bland and plain corridoor into an immersive and imaginative library area that entices the pupils to relish in the joy of reading.

We believe that any and every space within a school can be transformed to help the pupils with their learning and with space at a premium then even corridors and corners can be transformed.

I implore leaders and teachers to look at their school building, every nook and cranny, every corner and corridoor and see how they can be transformed and used as a learning aide or safe space for their pupils

Great to create and install yet another Safe Space and Reflection area at a wonderful school called St Gerard’s Catholic Primary in Widnes

This is the fifth piece of work we’ve done for this school

Really forwarding thinking head and staff who clearly understand the need of these areas for their pupils

We’ve always said that we want EVERY pupils to come to school with a smile of their face, eager to learn, able to share their concerns / worries and feel safe in their environment. Our conversions certainly help with this.

When you realise that you are on the right road and all the worry, stress and nerves are all worth it

Wonderful quote from staff at a school we did one of our themed conversions for -

‘….. Hey, you are more than welcome and can genuinely say that you were both fab and faultless. We all absolutely love what you have done. Can't believe how many views the video has got so far!!!! Can not wait to see the children's faces and for the next stage. Looking forward to working with you both again...’

This school have now asked us back to do another 3 separate themed conversions in other areas of their school.

Just finished a new library conversion down near Basildon in Essex ( our furthest job so far ).

Two years ago a teacher got in touch with us as she loved what we do and wanted us to convert her space but sadly she didn’t have the money however she said to me ‘ I promise I’m going to raise it so don’t forget about us’ fair play she raised the full amount.

First photo is the room empty and the rest is after our conversion. Staff just need to put the books and shelves back in now.

Always nice to get praise from well respected professionals. Proves to me that the work we do has real merit and impact on the social and emotional wellbeing of pupils

I’ve said many times, my obsessive objective is to get ALL kids to skip to school ready to be enthralled, inspired and motivated
