During our December meeting, an independent judge was invited to come and pick a winner from our homemade Christmas card competition.
There were some very good entries and the winner was our President Lyndis with her beautiful card and verse.
After the official part of the meeting, members enjoyed a festive quiz while indulging in mince pies, tea, coffee and for those not driving - a glass of sherry!

At our meeting on Wednesday, 5th November, we welcomed Esther Cadogan from Physio Môn and Mon Walkers.
Esther is a qualified physiotherapist and explained that it doesn't matter at what age you start walking regularly as a form of exercise, you can still improve muscle strength. Although aging is inevitable, walking for 30 minutes a day lowers blood pressure, eases depression and anxiety and reduces the risk of diabetes.
So in Esther's words, walking is a way to keep active until you're 100 and beyond! Thank you Esther for your humorous and instructive talk! Very glad you liked the cake too! 🙂

After our meeting on 1st October, members enjoyed a session of candle decorating. Our President Lyndis, supplied petals from her garden and the instructions. Everyone agreed that it was a relaxing way to spend the evening and we all had our creations to take home. Thank you Lyndis for a crafty evening!

The WI day and 110 years celebration was held in the WI Hall in Llanfairpwll with members from all over Anglesey attending. Later in the day, there was a visit from 11 Isle of Man members as well, who had braved the bad weather on their ferry crossing to be there!
The museum was open and there was a card making activity as well as tea and lots of different cakes to tempt members!

After our meeting on 3rd September, we were introduced to our speaker for the evening - Neil Summers, from the Amlwch Industrial Heritage Trust.
Neil told members how he is involved in conserving the Bronze Age copper mine remains on Parys Mountain (Mynydd Parys).
The mountain has been mined for copper and other materials since Roman times and at the end of the 18th century, was the largest producer of copper in the world.
Obviously extracting the copper was extremely dangerous work- Neil brought along hammer stones used to dig out the copper, which members were intrigued to pick up and examine.

On the 22nd July, our members along with some ladies from Llangoed WI, enjoyed a private guided tour around Bodrhyddan Hall, the home of Lord Langford and his family. It is a lovely house and our guide was very knowledgeable.
Members managed a short walk around part of the garden as unfortunately it was raining! We then enjoyed lunch and some retail therapy at Jackson's Garden Centre.

On 28th June, a garden party was held at one of our members' homes and we had a competition to make scarecrows! Below was the Llanddwyn/Newborough WI's entry - a fantastic mermaid! Well done to everyone who helped to create her 🧜‍♀️

At our July meeting, as there was no speaker, members enjoyed a game of 'Beetle Drive,' which resulted in joint winners Chris and Catherine 🪲
