World book day 📚📖

It was so nice being back in the woods today. We did a theme colour monster book. Huge thanks to Day Dreams Childminding for basically organising the full thing. While I looked for a hammock i could not find. 🥴 in the end I drew a monster and hung our giant silks. Now I'm doing this post like I planned today 🫣 the power of social media.

We had a wonderful day, painting, singing, laughing, creating new friendships, and exploring nature, building a connection with the world around us while working on understanding our emotions.

Today I joined many of my colleagues in the early years ALN conference.

Learning new skills, strategies, as well as a better understanding of the ALN system. So very appreciated that this was held on a Saturday meaning I could attend.

ALN is a mine field, it a battle ground for parents who have to fight for their children. While in Carmarthenshire we have a incredible ALN team getting access to the team is very difficult. Getting school to support children is a whole other story. Today has offered me alot to think about as well as some incredible new strategies I will 100%be implementing.

Moving house in winter is so hard. We lost out out door shelter. With 41 days of rain this year so far, getting a new one has been a challenge not to mention building it would be impossible.

We have still gotten out loads and enjoyed the rain for thd most part. It has really got us missing our garden play.

Feeling truly honoured and incredibly proud ✨

I’ve been asked to be part of piloting the launch of , a new personalised professional ID card designed to strengthen safeguarding and I’m so grateful to be involved.

As a childminder, I’m helping to trial how this works in real life, and I can honestly say it feels empowering to wear professional identification that puts children’s safety first.

We are often lone workers, especially when we’re out on outings and adventures. If the worst were ever to happen to me, this ID ensures that the children in my care can be safeguarded immediately. Their emergency contacts, medical needs, allergies, and essential information can be accessed quickly and efficiently without sharing any sensitive or personal data.

What I love most is that it uses a single universal contact number (the same for everyone), so no personal phone numbers are disclosed. Parents’ details, emergency contacts, and professional information are all protected, yet accessible when it matters most.

This means:
✔️ Children are kept safe
✔️ Emergency services can act fast
✔️ Parents have peace of mind
✔️ Professionals are clearly identified

Wearing the Little Link ID reminds me just how important it is for us as childcare professionals, to be recognisable, prepared, and protected because safeguarding doesn’t stop when we leave the setting.

Yesterday the children and I coverd the front lawn in wild flower seeds 🥰

We have a large front garden that is grassed. How beautiful would it be if it was a patch for bugs, insects, bees and butterflies? 🦋🪲🐞🐛
Not only that a summer of not mowing sounds pretty good to me 😅

We did this at out last house. By the street sign where the council kept spraying with w**d killer. 😔 its was beautiful, people often stopped and looked at the flowers. They grew back each year after. We would stop daily and watch the bettles and bees appreciate what we had done. The children noted how some birds also like to spend time watching the bugs. (I never told them they were eating the bugs )

Small easy changes can have a huge impact. We seem to have alot of foxes, and evidence of hedgogs how wonderful would it be to see them in amongst the flowers.

They develope confidence
They develope new intrests
They learn new skills
They learn new vocabulary
They develope critical thinking, problem solving, focus.
They develope fine and gross motor skills.
