TLC Fostering is a fostering agency who specialise in placements for children with complex medical and additional needs.

Founded in 2001, TLC Wales is an independent fostering agency based in Crosshands, Camarthenshire. We were established specifically to provide family placements for children and young people from birth to 18 with disabilities and complex needs. We provide short-term, long-term, respite and shared care placements for children and young people from birth to 18 with a range of disabilities and comple

x needs, including learning difficulties, autistic spectrum disorders, hearing and visual impairments, physical disabilities, genetic disorders and life limiting conditions.

5 tips to help a foster child feel comfortable in your home:

Prepare their space – Make sure their room has everything they need to feel comfortable and at home.

Be a listening ear – Allow them to open up at their own pace, and be there to listen and support them.

Build trust – Be honest, respectful, and consistent in your actions to establish a safe, trusting relationship.

Be patient – Understand that change takes time, and healing happens gradually.
Learn and understand their needs – Take the time to really get to know them and what they need to feel supported.

🐾 Can I foster if I have pets?

Yes, absolutely! ❤️

Pets can provide a comforting and therapeutic environment for young people, offering companionship, reassurance and a sense of home.

However, all pets in the household will need to be assessed as part of the fostering process to make sure they’re a good fit and that everyone’s safety and wellbeing is considered.

🏡🐶🐱 Having pets doesn’t mean you can’t foster — it could be an added positive for a young person in your care.
