The steel frame for the new extension at The Grand Hotel Swansea is continuing to be erected by D & B Steel Structures Ltd, using steelwork manufactured here at Shufflebottom.

The extension forms part of a major redevelopment that will more than double the hotel’s bedroom capacity, with plans also including a rooftop bar and kitchen, residents’ lounge, dining rooms and gym.

It’s great to see our steelwork playing a part in this significant investment in one of Swansea city centre’s most recognisable buildings.

A new 650m² steel-framed saw shed is taking shape at Gwrhyd Specialist Stone Quarry.

This aerial photograph captures the site during the groundworks phase, before our steelwork arrived. Since then, we have completed the er****on of the steel frame, and we’ll be sharing more photographs from the project soon.

Supporting our people means creating space for conversations about every stage of life.

Recently, we were pleased to support all of our female employees, regardless of age, who wished to attend one of the Menopause Drop-In Sessions at Smallholding Secrets / Y Pantri.

As a company, we already have a dedicated Menopause Policy within our Employee Handbook, but policies are only one part of creating a genuinely supportive workplace. Raising awareness, encouraging open conversations and giving people the opportunity to learn more about perimenopause, menopause and post-menopause are all vital in helping us better understand and support one another.

The session was led by Karen Gibbard-The Menopause Coach, who created a relaxed and welcoming environment and was incredibly knowledgeable and skilled at answering our questions, discussing individual concerns and helping to make what can sometimes feel like a complicated subject much easier to understand.

And we can't mention our visit without mentioning the food at Y Pantri, which was absolutely outstanding! 🙌

A really valuable session and an important opportunity to learn, talk, share experiences and raise awareness across our workforce.

Peter Dixon and Kirsty Griffiths were out representing Shufflebottom this morning at the Working Well Together - South Wales event, held at a Hale Construction site in Merthyr Tydfil.

Alongside Kelly Edwards of Tilbury Douglas, they created an opportunity for an important, open conversation around mental health and wellbeing in construction.

As part of the session, we also distributed leaflets signposting people to mental health support services, with guidance on recognising changes in someone's behaviour that could indicate they may be struggling.

It's always valuable to come together as an industry, encourage more open conversations around mental health, and make sure people know where they can turn for support. 🧡👷‍♂️

From steelwork to structure! 🏗️

You’ve watched it being cut, fabricated, painted and transported - now it’s going up on site.

We’ve reached a planned pause while the client completes some work inside the frame. Then we’ll be back for the roof, cold-rolled steel and cladding! Excellent work so far by everyone at Dave morris steel erecting ltd 👍🏼

We’re delighted to welcome two new regional sales agents to the Shufflebottom team: Tim Gibson and Joe Payne. 👋

Both Tim and Joe bring extensive agricultural knowledge and first-hand farming experience to their roles, strengthening the locally based support we provide to agricultural customers across northern and central England.

📍 Tim will represent Shufflebottom across North Yorkshire, Cumbria, Durham, Northumberland, Cleveland and Tyne & Wear.

📍 Joe will cover West Yorkshire, South Yorkshire, the East Riding of Yorkshire, Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire, Leicestershire, Cheshire and Lancashire.

Their appointments complement our existing sales team and further strengthen the knowledgeable, locally based advice available to customers planning agricultural, industrial and commercial steel-framed building projects across the UK.

🏗️ Work in progress!

Here’s the latest site progress from a machinery storage and workshop building we’re supplying and erecting in Kent.

The steel frame is now complete, with the columns, rafters, bracing and purlins all installed. Once scaffolding is erected, we’ll fit the roof and finally the cladding.

🏌️‍♂️ We’re delighted to reveal that we raised an incredible £7,343 for Breast Cancer UK at our Charity Golf Day, held at Machynys Peninsula Golf Club & Premier Spa on Friday 17th July. 🧡🩵

This fantastic achievement was only possible thanks to the generosity of everyone who entered a team, attended the event, donated prizes, bought raffle tickets, placed auction bids or supported us behind the scenes.

Thank you to every customer, contractor, supplier, colleague and friend who helped make the day such a memorable success - and to the team at Machynys for being wonderful hosts.
