5 THINGS OUR CHILDREN NEED TO HEAR MORE OF…

Children don’t just need to be told what they’re doing wrong - they need to hear words that build their confidence, strengthen their resilience and remind them how valued they are.

Here are 5 things every child deserves to hear more often:
💬 You don’t have to be perfect to be amazing.
💬 It’s okay to make mistakes - that’s how you learn.
💬 Your feelings matter.
💬 I’m proud of you for trying, even when it’s hard.
💬 You can do hard things, and I’m here to support you.

Because raising resilient children isn’t about teaching them to never struggle. It’s about helping them believe in themselves when things get tough. 💪

At Resilient Kids Academy, we believe that the right words, encouragement and support can help children grow into confident, resilient individuals who know their worth.
💭 Which of these do you think children need to hear most?

Save this post as a little reminder, share it with a parent who needs it, and let’s make encouragement part of everyday life. 💙

How we praise children matters.

We want children to feel proud of themselves - without making them feel like they always have to succeed, achieve or be the “best”.

Instead of focusing only on the outcome, try praising the effort, process and perseverance behind it. 🌱

This helps children understand that mistakes are okay, challenges are normal and their worth isn’t tied to their achievements.
At Resilient Kids Academy, we’re all about helping children build confidence and resilience without the pressure to be perfect. 💪🧠

💭 Finish the sentence…
✨ “I feel proud of myself when…”

It could be something big, like achieving a goal, or something small, like trying something new, being kind to someone or not giving up when something feels difficult. 💙

At Resilient Kids Academy, we believe it’s important for children to recognise their own achievements and celebrate how far they’ve come. 🌱

Now it’s your turn! 👇
Finish the sentence in the comments:
💬 “I feel proud of myself when…”

We’d love to hear yours! 🙌

💭 Is your child struggling with confidence?

Sometimes, a lack of confidence doesn’t always look like a lack of confidence. It can show up in small changes in behaviour, attitude and the way a child responds to everyday situations.

Here are 5 signs parents might notice:

🫣 Avoiding new activities or situations
💬 Being overly negative about themselves
😟 Worrying about getting things wrong or making mistakes
🙅‍♀️ Giving up quickly when something feels difficult
👥 Comparing themselves to others or seeking constant reassurance

One or two of these signs doesn’t necessarily mean your child is struggling - but they can be a reminder to pause, listen and check in. 💙

At Resilient Kids Academy, we help children build the confidence, resilience and self-belief they need to navigate challenges and believe in themselves.
🌱 Confidence isn’t about never doubting yourself. It’s about learning that you can handle challenges when they come.

🌦️ FEELINGS CHECK-IN 🌈

If your week was a weather forecast, what would it be?

☀️ Sunny – I’ve had a great week!
🌤️ Partly cloudy – Some good moments, some tricky ones.
🌧️ Rainy – It’s been a tough week.
⛈️ Stormy – Lots of big feelings to deal with.
🌈 Rainbow – Things have been difficult, but I’m starting to feel better.
There’s no right or wrong answer. 💛

Checking in with our feelings helps children recognise what’s going on inside and gives them the opportunity to talk about what they might need.

So… what’s your weather forecast this week? ☀️🌧️⛈️🌈

💭 “I can’t do it.”
What if we changed that to…
👉 “I can’t do it… YET.”

The power of yet teaches children that their abilities aren’t fixed. It’s okay to struggle, make mistakes and not get it right the first time.

What matters is having the resilience to keep trying, keep learning and keep growing. 💪🧠

At Resilient Kids Academy, we help children develop the mindset to see challenges as opportunities - because “not yet” is a powerful place to start. 🌱

✨ You might not be able to do it today. But that doesn’t mean you never will.

💛 3 Ways to Help Your Child Handle Big Emotions

Big feelings can be overwhelming for children - and knowing how to respond isn’t always easy for parents either.

Here are 3 simple ways you can help your child manage those big emotions:
🌱 1. Name the emotion
Help your child put words to what they’re feeling: “It looks like you’re feeling really frustrated right now.” Naming emotions can help make them feel more manageable.
🫶 2. Stay calm and connected
When emotions are running high, your calm presence can make a big difference. Get down to their level, listen and let them know you’re there.
🧠 3. Teach coping strategies
Practise calming techniques when your child is already calm - such as taking deep breaths, counting to 10, having some quiet time or talking about how they feel.

Remember: children don’t need to learn how to stop having big emotions - they need to learn how to understand and handle them. 💛

At Resilient Kids Academy, we’re here to help children build the confidence, emotional skills and resilience they need to navigate life’s challenges.

💭 What does resilience actually mean for children?

Resilience doesn’t mean never struggling, never feeling upset, or always getting things right.

It means learning that it’s okay to:
✨ Feel big emotions
✨ Make mistakes
✨ Ask for help
✨ Try again after something goes wrong
✨ Adapt when things don’t go to plan
✨ Believe that difficult moments can be worked through

At Resilient Kids Academy, we believe resilience is something children build over time - through connection, encouragement, safe challenges and learning that setbacks don’t define them. 💛

Because resilient children aren’t children who never fall… they’re children who learn they can get back up. 🌱

🍂 5 QUESTIONS TO REFLECT ON SEPTEMBER 🍂

As September comes to a close, take a moment to pause and reflect with your child. A new school year can bring big changes, new challenges and lots of little wins.

Instead of focusing only on what went well, use these questions to help your child recognise how far they’ve come:

💭 1. What was something you found difficult at the start of September that feels easier now?
🌟 2. What are you most proud of yourself for this month?
💛 3. What was a moment that made you feel happy, excited or proud?
🧠 4. What did you learn about yourself this month?
🌱 5. What is one thing you’d like to work on or look forward to in October?

Reflection helps children recognise their progress, understand their emotions and celebrate the small steps that can sometimes go unnoticed.

Every month brings opportunities to learn, grow and become more resilient.

💛 PARENT PERMISSION SLIP

You are allowed to take a break.

You don’t have to be available every minute of every day. You don’t have to have everything figured out. And you don’t have to feel guilty for needing some time for yourself.

🌿 Take a moment to breathe.
☕ Have that cup of tea while it’s still hot.
🚶‍♀️ Step outside for some fresh air.
📵 Put your phone down.
💛 Ask for help when you need it.

Taking a break doesn’t mean you’re failing as a parent. It means you’re human.
Looking after yourself gives you more capacity to support the little people who need you most.

So here’s your permission slip:
You can pause. You can rest. You can reset.
