Beatitude Ad Vitam Workplace Wellbeing Survey 30/09/2015

Why is wellbeing at work relevant to us?

Well-being and stress management issues are within the overall 'duty of care' that an employer owes to its employees, yet the consideration extends far beyond the employer's duty of care. Everyone in work has a duty to safeguard and nurture personal wellbeing at work, especially where there is no-one to help you do it.

From an organizational management angle, wellbeing is a major factor in quality, performance, productivity and therefore business effectiveness and profit. Where a person's wellbeing reduces, so typically does his or her performance and effectiveness.

If staff wellbeing is undermined, many key organisational performance factors can be negatively impacted, for example:
• reduced productivity
• increased mistakes and errors
• conflict
• grievance and disciplinary incidents
• sickness and absenteeism
• low morale and negative atmosphere
• poor customer services and quality
• resignations and job terminations (causing increased staff turnover)
• poor employer reputation among staff, customers, and potential new recruits

Our first Happiness Club is starting on Monday 26th October at Liverpool Central Library. It will start with a two-session course, developed by Action for Happiness, based on the very latest wellbeing research.

We will be following this with a Happiness Club which is a book club-style gatherings where we tune in to what lights us up and discuss how we can put happiness – ours and other people’s – at the heart of our life.

The sessions are free, open to anyone and will be friendly and informal. They will run at Liverpool Central Library on Monday afternoons – 12 – 2pm from 26 October until 25th January, with a two week break for Christmas.
