Eating healthy but still feeling tired, hungry, bloated or like your body just isn’t responding the way it used to? 🩷

It might be time to look at what’s actually on your plate.

In perimenopause, your body needs a little more support from your nutrition.

Think about building your meals around:

🥩 Protein → supports muscle and metabolism
🥦 Fibre → supports digestion and blood sugar balance
🥑 Healthy fats → support hormones and satisfaction
🍠 Quality carbs → provide energy and fuel
🌈 Colour → provides essential nutrients and antioxidants

You don’t need to cut carbs, follow a restrictive diet or make your meals complicated.

Start with a balanced plate that gives your changing body what it needs.

Small changes can make a big difference in how you feel. 🩷

Wondering why your belly seems to be growing in perimenopause... even though you’re eating healthy and exercising? 🩷

You’re not imagining it.

One of the biggest frustrations women experience during perimenopause is weight gain around the middle.

And it’s not simply because you’re eating too much.

As oestrogen begins to decline, your body naturally starts storing fat differently. Instead of around the hips and thighs, fat is more likely to settle around the abdomen.

But that’s only part of the story.

Factors like:

✨ Losing muscle mass
✨ Higher stress and cortisol levels
✨ Poor sleep
✨ Blood sugar imbalances
✨ Increased insulin resistance
✨ Not eating enough protein

can all make belly weight gain more likely.

The good news?

Your body isn’t broken.

It simply needs a different kind of support than it did in your 30s.

Small changes to your nutrition, exercise, sleep, and stress management can make a huge difference in how you feel—and how your body responds.

What’s the biggest mindset shift I’ve made in perimenopause?

Realising I don’t have to feel guilty for taking care of myself. 🩷

For years, I was really good at putting everyone else first.

My family.
My responsibilities.
The endless list of things that needed to get done.

And if I’m honest… taking time for myself often came with guilt.

Shouldn’t I be doing something more productive?
Shouldn’t I be helping someone else?
Can I really take time for me?

But at some point, I realised something important:

Taking care of myself isn’t selfish. It’s necessary.

Perimenopause has taught me that I can’t keep giving from an empty cup.

Prioritising myself looks like:

🩷 Going for a walk because it helps me feel better
🩷 Making time for strength training because my body deserves support
🩷 Getting enough rest instead of always pushing through
🩷 Saying no when something doesn’t serve me
🩷 Making time for the things that bring me joy

And the biggest change?

I stopped seeing self-care as something I had to earn.

I started seeing it as something I deserve.

Because when I take care of myself, I don’t just benefit me.

I show up better for the people I love.
I have more energy.
I feel more connected to myself.

Perimenopause isn’t just about changing hormones.

It’s also an opportunity to ask:

“What do I need in this season of my life?”

And finally allowing yourself to answer honestly.

18/08/2026

The one thing I wish I had started sooner in perimenopause? Strength training. 🩷

And honestly… getting back into exercise wasn’t easy for me.

For over 2 years, I stopped exercising because I was dealing with a frozen shoulder and chronic migraines. I was also afraid. Afraid any movement other then walking would trigger my migraines, because it often did.

It was unbelievable frustrating.

I missed feeling strong.
I missed moving my body.
And I definitely noticed a difference in my energy and confidence.

But slowly, I’ve started again.

And strength training has become one of the most powerful tools in my perimenopause journey.

As our hormones change—especially declining oestrogen—we naturally start to lose muscle mass more quickly.

And muscle matters.

It supports:

✨ A healthy metabolism
✨ Strength and energy
✨ Blood sugar balance
✨ Bone health
✨ Confidence in your body
✨ How you feel day to day

And no, strength training doesn’t mean spending hours in the gym or lifting heavy weights every day.

It can look like:

🌿 Bodyweight exercises
🏋️‍♀️ Dumbbells at home
💪 Resistance bands
⏰ 2–3 sessions a week consistently

For me, getting stronger isn’t about trying to look a certain way.

It’s about feeling capable.

It’s about supporting my body through this stage of life so I can keep doing the things I love.

Perimenopause isn’t about fighting your changing body.

It’s about giving your body what it needs now.

And strength training is one of the best gifts you can give yourself. 🩷

You’re eating healthy... so why are you still gaining weight? 🩷

If you’re in perimenopause, this can feel incredibly frustrating.

You’re making healthier choices.
You’re trying to take care of yourself.
You’re doing what used to work.

Yet the weight keeps creeping up—especially around your middle.

The truth is, it may have nothing to do with willpower.

Here are a few reasons why:

❌ You’re not eating enough protein
❌ You’re not eating enough food overall
❌ You’re relying on too much cardio and not enough strength training
❌ Poor sleep is affecting your hunger, cravings, and energy
❌ High stress is keeping your body in a constant state of overwhelm
❌ Your blood sugar is out of balance
❌ You’re naturally losing muscle as hormones change

Perimenopause changes the game.

What worked in your 30s may not work the same way now.

That’s why the answer usually isn’t eating less or exercising harder.

Instead, focus on:

✨ Prioritising protein
✨ Eating balanced meals
✨ Strength training regularly
✨ Supporting sleep
✨ Managing stress
✨ Balancing blood sugar
✨ Walking daily

Remember: your body isn’t broken.

It’s changing.

And when you learn how to support those changes, everything starts to feel a little easier. 🩷

That “pregnant by bedtime” feeling? You’re not alone. 🩷

If you’re in perimenopause, you’re not alone.

Bloating is one of the most common—and frustrating—symptoms women experience during this stage of life.

So what’s causing it?

As hormones fluctuate, especially estrogen and progesterone, your body can become more prone to:

✨ Water retention
✨ Slower digestion
✨ Changes in gut health
✨ Increased food sensitivities
✨ Constipation and irregular bowel movements

The result?

A belly that feels uncomfortable, swollen, tight, and often much larger by the end of the day.

The good news is that bloating isn’t something you just have to put up with.

Simple changes like eating enough protein, increasing fibre gradually, staying hydrated, managing stress, and supporting your gut health can make a big difference.

Remember:

Just because bloating is common in perimenopause doesn’t mean it’s normal to suffer through it every day.

Maybe what you need most in perimenopause isn’t another health goal… but a holiday (or even just an intentional break just for you). 🩷💯

For so many years, taking time off can feel like something we have to earn.

But perimenopause has reminded me how important it is to slow down, step away, and give yourself a break.

A holiday isn’t just about getting away.

It’s about:

🌿 Resting your body
☀️ Getting outside and enjoying the sunshine
🩷 Spending time with people you love
🧘‍♀️ Letting your mind switch off
✨ Doing things simply because they make you happy

And no, you don’t need to keep your routine perfectly while you’re away.

Move because it feels good.
Eat food you enjoy.
Sleep in if you can.
Relax without guilt.

Your body doesn’t need you to constantly push harder.

Sometimes, rest is exactly what your body needs.

So if you’re waiting for permission to take a break…

This is it. 🩷

Perimenopause has taught me that consistency matters more than convenience. 🩷

Even on holiday, when I don’t have access to a gym, I found a way to get some strength training in.

Nothing fancy.
Nothing complicated.

🎶 Some music to motivate me
💪 A couple of resistance bands
⏰ And a little time for myself

And honestly, I’m proud of myself.

Not because I worked out on holiday…

But because I’ve created a habit that supports my perimenopause body—and I can modify and adapt it wherever I am.

That’s the goal.

Not perfection.
Not doing more.

Just creating habits that are realistic enough to keep doing. 🩷

What’s one healthy habit you’ve made part of your life?

10/08/2026

Eating “healthy” but still struggling with low energy, cravings, weight gain, or feeling like your body is working against you? 🩷

It may not be what you’re eating...

It could be what you’re not eating.

During perimenopause, your body has different needs than it did in your 20s and 30s. Yet many women unknowingly make nutrition mistakes that can make symptoms worse.

Here are 5 common ones:

❌ Skipping breakfast
This can lead to energy crashes, cravings, and poor blood sugar balance later in the day.

❌ Not eating enough protein
Protein supports muscle, metabolism, blood sugar balance, and helps keep you feeling satisfied.

❌ Being afraid of carbs
Your body needs carbohydrates for energy, brain function, and hormone health. The goal is balance, not elimination.

❌ Not eating enough fibre
Fibre supports digestion, gut health, blood sugar balance, and hormone health.

❌ Restricting too much
Eating less isn’t always the answer. Chronic restriction can increase cravings, lower energy, and make it harder to support your changing body.

Instead of focusing on eating less, focus on nourishing your body better.

✨ Eat balanced meals
✨ Prioritise protein
✨ Include fibre regularly
✨ Enjoy quality carbohydrates
✨ Support your body consistently

Remember: Perimenopause isn’t the time to punish your body.

It’s the time to support it. 🩷
