Liverpool Independent Art School is an independently run school for the scribblers to the seasoned pros, run by a team of artist tutors with wide ranging specialist knowledge and many years experience. ed us to shift temporarily to digital delivery via our Patreon platform. Since then we have maintained that and begun to also develop very successful teaching partnerships with Kirkby Gallery, The Bridewell Studios, Gallery 455 at Smithdown Road and 92 Degrees Coffee. New developments with Liverpool University, Liverpool Theatres and others will continue this pattern. We have recently taken on a larger studio teaching space at John Archer Hall in Liverpool 8 and this offers us more opportunity to continue to grow and develop. We are hugely grateful to our patrons and proud of the flexible resources we have developed to maintain what we built up in these unprecedented days. Our increasing return to studio delivery now runs alongside our digital package so these are finally times of real expansion for LIAS

It’s the end of the term as we know it and we feel fine. LIAS tutors are taking a month to recharge our batteries and wanted to thank everyone who’s supported what we do for an amazing year culminating in some ends of really good projects, full day specialist workshops, gallery visits and of course our field trip to lovely Llandudno. We wouldn’t be an art school without our artists. We’ll be back in first week of September for new classes and the celebration day of ten years of LIAS. Wishing you all a great summer break. Don’t stop being artists- (we’ll be doing random sketchbook inspections to keep you on your toes 😂)

Yesterday was our final gallery visit of the term for our Patreon artists. We went to see the new work on display at the Walker Art Gallery. Michael Landy’s Multi Saint was malfunctioning a little and had a been switched off but the curators very generously arranged permission to see it working fully. The work there in the adjoining John Moores winners room was brilliant. We spent an hour in there followed by discussion of the work seen and a lovely lunch to close the term off nicely. The payment schedule will be paused for the month of August while we are off and we’ll be back with more zoom seminars, gallery visits and drawing days.
