IMPORTANT - Student Fraud Alert
We're aware of an attempt to scam a student out of money, where they've been emailed from a bogus email address & asked to pay rent to a different bank account. We've advised LSH accommodation providers of this incident to make tenants aware.
Tips to protect you from fraud
- Always check the email address of any email you receive claiming to be from your accommodation provider ESPECIALLY if asked to make any payments
- Scammers may use email addresses that closely match (look for extra numbers or spelling mistakes) or change the senders name so it appears to be from your accommodation provider
- Have any doubts about the authenticity of an email?
Contact your accommodation provider direct via a known email or phone number (don't reply to the suspicious email)
- Visit the Take Five website for more tips on preventing fraud, as well as the 'Beware of Fraud' section in the student hub on the LSH website
Reporting Fraud
- Contact Action Fraud (0300 123 2040 or via actionfraud.police.uk ). You should also let your accommodation provider know so they can make other tenants aware ASAP

If you need to talk to someone, MindLine Trans+ is an emotional support and information helpline. Itโs for anyone who identifies as transgender, non-binary or gender fluid.
A trained volunteer listener will be at the other end of the phone. They wonโt ask for any personal details, theyโll just listen to you and offer support.
The helpline can also support family members, friends, colleagues and carers.
