I wish someone had made this post for me when I first started looking into changing my boys’ surnames
I had absolutely no idea where to start, what form I needed, whether I needed my ex’s permission or what would happen if he said no
So I’ve put together the basics of what I learnt along the way
The biggest thing I learnt?
It’s not about what you want. It’s about why you believe it’s in your child’s best interests.
And I think that’s really important to remember when you’re writing anything for court.
Don’t make it about the relationship between you and the other parent!!
Make it about your children.
Their identity.
Their circumstances.
Their relationships.
Their wellbeing.
And why you’re asking the court to make the change
I’m not a solicitor and this isn’t legal advice!!! Speak to a professional for more legal info! just my experience as a mum of navigating something I knew absolutely nothing about beforehand

The trolls on the internet is absolutely wild sometimes, and absolutely zero consequences. I always wonder how many of these men have partners who have no idea the things they say to people?
If this went on in an office they would lose their jobs yet somehow they feel it’s okay to say to people on the internet
My biggest goal is to raise boys that women feel safe around 🙏🏻
