On Slowing Down 🤍

Sounds easy, but can be very hard to in practice.

The world has become so overwhelming it’s rebellious to do it at your own pace 💭

In therapy I often get asked how to slow down…. So here are some ideas we often explore together.

My personal faves are

1. Building space between things, so not jam packing things back to back. Leaves more buffer and breathing space so less pressure.

2. Having boundaries round my time off, so I treat it a bit like it’s time committed to something - it’s time committed to me so things can’t just take it away! Otherwise things can creep in so I guard it well ✊🏻

3. Box breathing whenever I feel my nervous system is getting escalated, really simple and you can do this anywhere!

Are you going at a pace that feels right for you? If not then how could you slow it down? 💭

Hope this helps 🤍

Little reflection on the theme of this month - Action

It’s amazing we now have Awareness but now we need Action.

Action for change in the bigger picture
Action for small manageable change
Action to get us to a place that we are ready for making change

May is Mental Health Awareness Month💛

It’s a great thing to raise awareness.

But often I think about what happens once we become aware.

Just awareness isn’t enough.

It’s what’s next..
How do make change?
How do I get help?
How do I access support?
How do I feel different?

This is the challenge we are left with, this is when things can fall down.

People ask for help, people speak up - and nothing happens.

This is often the issue I see when clients access crisis services. The process falls down, the right support isn’t there.

That’s breaks my heart 🥲

It makes you lose faith, you feel more alone. Minimised after building yourself up to reach out.

Things need to change, the system needs to be better. This will take time, but we hope it will happen.

This years focus is Action💛

The what’s next, the movement - whether that is collectively or individually is now just as important and where change can happen💭

May is Mental Health Awareness Month💛

But mental health isn’t a one-month conversation.

It’s an ongoing commitment. Some days you’ll feel steady. Other days you won’t. And that’s okay.

It’s okay to not be okay.

What matters is what comes next. When you aren’t okay. Opening up. Asking for help. Reaching out to a friend, a family member, a therapist, a hotline — whoever feels safe.

The hardest part is often that first sentence: “I’m struggling”, “I’m not okay”, “I need some help with this”…

But on the other side of those words is something powerful — understanding, compassion, empathy - access to people, resources, and support that can genuinely help you make change and move forward.

You don’t have to have it all figured out. You don’t have to be in crisis to deserve support. You just have to start the conversation.

Check in on yourself. Are you okay?

Check in on the people around you. Are they okay?

Healing or getting help isn’t linear, but you don’t have to walk it alone. We all need a hand sometimes - we’re human 🤍

Great day of learning and connecting 💫

I love running my own business as it gives me freedom and autonomy.

But it also means you need to find lots of self motivation & make difficult decisions without the backup and support of a team.

But days like this leave you feeling less alone, inspired and energised.

Ready to get out your own way, silence the self doubt and push on 💫

Thank you!! 🙏🏻
