Happy International Women's Day!
When you visit The Women's Organisation in Liverpool there is a small wooden plaque on the Reception desk. It has been there as long as I can remember, and it never fails to make me smile when I read it.
Well Behaved Women Rarely Make History.
I don’t think “well behaved” is a word I have ever heard anyone used to describe me. Maybe when I was the yellow team prefect at primary school and in the earlier days of my corporate career when a lack of confidence and self-belief had me fit in rather than stand out. Sometime between then and stepping into to work for myself it’s a label I was pleased to leave behind.
I am not advocating that we all start behaving badly either. I like to think it is more about making a choice to behave more courageously.
My world is full of women (and men) who have chosen to walk the path less travelled. Who decided to let go of a working world that they no longer fitted in to, who left a relationship that no longer worked despite a lot of investment and made the choice to be brave and follow their heart and instincts and create a life more fulfilling?
When I left the safety and security of a career in the corporate world to start up a mobile coffee van my friends and colleagues thought – What the ****? Of course they were very polite and didn’t actually say that to my face but it did cause a lot of ructions. I mean how much money was I going to make and what about my pension?
Life is all about finding our purpose, or letting it find us. However to do that we have to put ourselves out there. We have to listen to ourselves and find an answer to the questions – What would we do if you weren’t afraid? What is important? What needs to happen for us to choose courage over comfort, choose what is right rather than what is fun, fast or easy and choose to practice our values rather than simply professing them? (the wise words of one of the most inspiring women on the planet Brene Brown)
So, on this day, regardless of gender, when we celebrate all that is marvellous about being human -let us all take a step towards leaving the “well behaved” label behind and keep taking small courageous steps towards the life that was meant for us.
When you step up to be a coach you get to meet lots of lovely like minded people some go on to be part of your journey and a good friend. Thanks Alison Blacker 2minds for inviting me to come into your super radio show and talk about Imposter Syndrome. You are doing a great job across the airwaves.

One of the things I am hearing across the business world is that we are all “going back to normal”.
Back? We can’t ever go “back” in life, we can only ever move forward.
The last two years have shaped us all, given us new perspectives, new dreams and highlighted what is really important and what we value most. Nobody is the same person they were back in February 2020.
If you are leading others then there are four key essentials to helping people move forward. I call them the 4 C’s…and in no particular order, as they are all as important as each other here they are.
4 C's of Leadership in a Post COVID-19 World | Denise Chilton Coaching Last week I spent a day at Manchester Art Gallery delivering a coaching skills workshop to 11 managers from a hugely inspiring charity that works to give children and young people the best start in life. This entrepreneurial organisation had already started to embrace a coaching culture and wanted i...

Had the pleasure of speaking to Knowsley Chamber Of Commerce about the lessons I've learned over the past 2 years during the pandemic.
Like many in those first few weeks, I thought "oh my goodness, I'm going to lose my business." I knew I needed a plan or I wasn't going to survive.
Here we are 2 years on and I know what works really well for me and where I can do/be my best. For me, it's all about delivering meaningful change and that's helping me to refine my offer.
You can read more in the Knowsley Insight magazine below.

This week a journalist from The Guardian (!!) reached out to ask for some help with an article she was putting together about the types of tricky conversations people face in life.
She was after my thoughts about what to consider when asking for a pay rise. The Guardian article will be out after Easter!
If you want some tips and tricks now, I've written a blog:

Like most people I didn’t get a holiday last year so it’s over 2 years since I stepped on a plane. Today at Manchester airport I got rather giddy - even though I was only on the plane for 45 minutes! Good evening Cornwall - not a traffic jam insight!

It's been great to get back to my morning swimming routine.
However, the other morning, I was rather taken aback when a lady came up to me in the changing room whilst I was wrapped up in just a towel and said, “I was reading your article in the Cheshire Life yesterday – it was very good”.
Thankfully, the photo in the magazine thankfully has me dressed!
Thank you Cheshire Life for promoting Suddenly Single.

Frontline primary care staff involved in the delivery of primary care services, both clinical and non-clinical faced unprecedented challenges through COVID-19.
To ensure all staff delivering frontline primary care services felt supported and better able to maintain their psychological wellbeing during this time the NHS launched the Looking After You Too service, offering any individual working in primary care the opportunity to work with a coach.
The coaching provided a space to offload the demands of whatever individuals were experiencing, supporting them to develop practical strategies for building resilience and look after their own wellbeing.
I was hugely privileged to be invited by Beyond Coaching to join the scheme. Since last April, a team of over 30 coaches have delivered over 10,000 sessions to 3,300 individuals with 100% positive feedback.
Sometimes you get a once in a lifetime opportunity to make a difference like no other. I feel extremely privileged to have been part of such a fabulous service having so much positive impact.
