We are very pleased to share that Team Mushin CIC has received funding through the Million Hours Fund to support our new project, Empowered Youth.
Through Empowered Youth, we will be providing free open access classes and monthly workshops for young people aged 10–16, focusing on confidence, communication, respect, responsibility, teamwork, resilience, and positive personal development.
For a small community organisation like ours, this support makes a huge difference. It allows us to remove some of the financial barriers that many families face and gives more young people the opportunity to access positive, structured activities in a safe and supportive environment.
Our aim has always been to use martial arts as more than just physical training. We want to help young people build confidence, find their voice, develop self-discipline, and feel part of something positive within their community.
Empowered Youth will also create opportunities for young people to grow into leadership roles, learn new skills, and become positive examples for others around them.
We are very grateful to the Government,
the Department for Culture, Media & Sport, and The National Lottery Community Fund for making this possible through the Million Hours Fund.
The Million Hours Fund is a £19 million jointly funded initiative from the Department for Culture, Media & Sport (DCMS) and The National Lottery Community Fund, the largest community funder in the UK. The programme funds organisations to provide positive activities for young people in areas with high levels of antisocial behaviour.
Thank you
for supporting small community organisations like ours and helping us continue to make a difference wherea it is needed most.
Free open access classes and monthly workshops will be available for young people aged 10–16. For more information, please chexk our website for more details or contact Team Mushin CIC directly or send us a message.

Lord Mayor Visit to Team Mushin CIC
Team Mushin CIC was honoured to welcome the Lord Mayor to our dojo on Wednesday 29th April, and we would like to sincerely thank her for taking time out of her busy schedule to visit and support our small community interest company.
The visit was a wonderful opportunity for us to showcase the work we do within the local community and to share the positive impact martial arts can have on children and young people. It also gave us the chance to highlight one of the key values at the heart of Team Mushin CIC — leadership in action.
During the session, the children took part in a structured class lead by our youth lead Adam .that demonstrated discipline, respect, confidence, teamwork, and resilience. The class was led by Adam, one of our young leaders, who showed great maturity and confidence in supporting the delivery of the session. This was a proud moment for us, as it reflected the importance of creating opportunities for young people to develop leadership skills in a safe, supportive, and encouraging environment.
The class was split into groups so the children could take part fully while also allowing us to demonstrate how leadership, responsibility, and positive role modelling are built into our sessions. It was lovely to see the children engage so well and represent the CIC with such respect and enthusiasm.
As a small CIC, visits like this mean a great deal to us. They help shine a light on the work being done at grassroots level and give recognition to the children, volunteers, coaches, parents, and young leaders who make our community what it is.
We are incredibly grateful to the Lord Mayor for her time, interest, and support. Her visit was a very special moment for Team Mushin CIC and one we will remember with pride.
Thank you to everyone who attended, supported, and helped make the visit such a positive experience.
