Help Mini First Aid North West Team raise money to support Children's Burns Trust

01/09/2026

2913 miles laterโ€ฆ ๐Ÿ’š

We did it

23 people
150 miles each or as a team
Our team, spread across the country

We've walked through sunshine, rain, on beaches, through the countryside, with our children, with our dogs, before work, after work and sometimes when we really didn't fancy another mile!

But this challenge was never really about the walking.

It was about raising awareness of burns, helping people understand how quickly they can happen and supporting 's Burns Trust and the children and families whose lives have been changed by burns.

Every mile helped us start conversations.

Every post helped us share a little more awareness.

And every donation, however big or small, will help make a difference.

So, as our 150-mile challenge comes to an end, we'd like to say the biggest THANK YOU to everyone who has walked with us, donated, shared our posts, talked about burns safety or simply cheered us on.

๐Ÿ”ฅ 2913 miles
๐Ÿ’š 23 walkers
๐ŸงกOne incredible cause

The walking may be over, but there's still time to donate.

Help us make our final miles count.

Huge thankyou to everyone who has donated, we really do appreciate it ๐Ÿ’š If you can, please support us with a donation - every penny really does make a difference.

And if you canโ€™t donate, sharing our campaign and helping us spread the burns awareness message is just as valuable.

โ˜€๏ธ Today feels like the perfect day to talk about sun safety.

With the current heatwave and a solar eclipse taking place today, lots of us will be spending more time outdoors. Itโ€™s a good reminder that sunburn is a burn - and one we can help prevent.

Swipe through our carousel for some simple ways to keep little ones safe in the sun โ˜€๏ธ ๐Ÿ’š

As part of our August campaign supporting the Childrenโ€™s Burns Trust, weโ€™re sharing burns awareness messages throughout the month - because preventing a burn is always better than treating one.

Stay safe, stay sun smart and enjoy the sunshine! ๐Ÿ’š

Hands up if you or your child experienced a touch of sunburn after last week's heatwave? ๐Ÿ˜ฌ

You will not be alone. At least one-third of British people admit to experiencing at least one episode of sunburn every year.

The sun is often strong enough in the UK to damage skin, even if it is cold or cloudy. UV radiation from the sun is the main cause of skin cancer.

On the Family Health Podcast, we chat with Adele, a mum of two who received a devastating diagnosis of skin cancer on Christmas Eve 2020. Her daughters were just 6 and 7 years old. Please make some time to listen to Adele's story this week.

You can also learn more about skin burns and how to treat them in our first aid classes - see our website for information on classes in your local area.

And please take care of you and yours as we move into the summer season โ˜€๏ธ
