The annual Postgate lecture series is supported by the University of Liverpool’s Postgate endowment, funded by a generous bequest from Professor John Percival Postgate (1853 - 1926), Professor of Latin at the University from 1909 - 1920.
Postgate is remembered for his lasting work in Latin textual criticism and for his editing of the corpus of Latin poets: he was also a key founding figure in the activities of the National Classical Association. His bequest to the university continues to support not only the Postgate lecture, but also other classical activities undertaken in the Department of Archaeology, Classics and Egyptology.
Join us for this year’s Lecture by Professor James Clackson, followed by a networking reception.
