Mrs Edwards was honoured as a Finalist at last year's awards as she celebrated an incredible 50 years since opening Formby Day Nursery.
When she was honoured at the awards, she was still at the helm, looking after children, aged 89-years-old.
Pamela Edwards opened Formby Day Nursery, alongside her late husband in 1975, and went on to run it with the help of other family members.
Over the past five decades, Pamela has been known as Mrs Edwards but recently, she has earned a new special title courtesy of the children she cares for, one that she enjoys... "Grandma".

JOB OPPORTUNITY - COOK

We are looking to recruit a Nursery Cook to join our team. The ideal candidate will enjoy working in a solo position and be required to prepare and cook healthy meals, paying close attention to the new Government Nutrition Guidance for Children 2025.

Key Responsibilities will include:

+Preparing meals and snacks in a hygienic and timely manner.

+Ensure that all children with dietary requirements/allergies are catered for in compliance with our company policy and Health & Safety requirements including completion of all required records.

+Maintain adequate stores and food stuffs in appropriate storage conditions.

+Carry out daily opening and closing checks.

+Ensure that all areas of the kitchen including all kitchen equipment are kept clean and orderly, carrying out all required cleaning duties, ensuring that all records are completed on time.

+Observe high standards of food hygiene during the preparation, cooking and serving of all foods.

+Work in a safe and organised manner adhering to health & safety standards at all times.

+Work as part of the team.

+Undertake relevant Safeguarding training.

+Adhere to all our Policies and Procedures at the setting

+Possess a Level 2/3 Food Hygiene Certificate and/or undertake relevant training as required.

We are committed to the Safeguarding of all our children, so the successful applicant will be required to hold and enhanced DBS certificate and to have joined the update service.

Mon - Wed - 8am-1pm

Pay: £12.21 per hour

Today is a very special day at nursery…..❤️

Mrs Edwards (Grandma) is celebrating her 90th Birthday 🥳

We would like to wish her the most amazing and happiest of birthdays 🎉

⭐️ Tonight we celebrate Mrs Edwards as she is a finalist at the Pride of Sefton awards at the Grand in Southport ⭐️

Mrs Edwards has run Formby Day Nursey which is at the heart of Merseyside for 50 years!

Back in 1975, Pamela Edwards, known as Mrs Edwards to generations of children, founded Formby Day Nursery inside Cullen House on Church Road, Formby, where it has remained for the last half a century.

Pamela and her husband Ted moved their family to the area from Essex in 1965 and from there, the nursery has continued to grow, seeing thousands of children pass through its doors. Through the decades, Pamela's children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren have also grown up around the business and four generations of the family now work there.

She has no intentions of retiring anytime soon always putting children in Sefton first.

She is an inspirational woman whom everyone is in awe off and we wish her all the luck in the world for tonight ❤️⭐️

Congratulations to our first cohort of Early Years Educators who have completed the Emotional Health & Wellbeing Award.
These dedicated professionals are committed to embed and sustain a positive culture of emotional wellbeing within their early years setting.
They have also achieved a NCFE Level 4 Award in Early Years Emotional Wellbeing. :-)
Thank you to Sue for leading this valuable project and sharing her expertise alongside many inspirational guest speakers.
