Duel practice will take place tonight at midnight in The Tower. Sixth Formers who have gained their duelling license must also bring their guardian permission slips.
Open since 1826, the School of Word Play and Wizardry has been teaching children to become powerful wizards for nearly 200 years.
We also specialise in creative thinking and storytelling.

Carved by the great hand of Grizalvald Wingrester, this wooden statue sits proudly atop the third floor staircase within our school. Rumour has it that when the clock strikes midnight on the 11th of November each year, the spirit of the bird awakens and the bird flys away. The first person to touch the perch where the statue once stood, transforms into a statue and must sit waiting to be freed until the following year www.schoolofwordplay.com

We had such a great time during our last session at Bridge Cottage in Port Sunlight. For all non-magical folk, be warned there are some very talented witches and wizards in-training in Port Sunlight! Our next writing session is filling up fast. The session is taking place at Wigwam Coffee Shop in Liverpool on the 15th November

Our botany class went fungi collecting in the Forest of Foreboding today. This is the Flyartrium Mushroom. To make a temporary levitating tablet, simply add three spitals of this specimen to a quart tub of mungal juice and brew for 253 hours over a low cauldron heat. Once brewed, sieve and dry cure the remains before bottling. Et voila!

It’s National Libraries week and to celebrate we’re sharing this amazing photo of Aurora Windsor. Aurora was our School Librarian from 1885 to 1932 and was famous for enforcing strict silence in the library at all times. If a pupil ever dared to become rowdy, Aurora would conjure creatures from the pages of Deadly Beasts of Britain: From the Berserk to the Bourgeois. Once conjured, Aurora would then set the animals loose on the wrongdoer. Safe to say, noise levels were at an all time low during Aurora’s reign. Sadly, so were our literacy rates. Many historians, including Hamongus Doggery, blame Aurora for the shockingly bad quality of our wizard and witch literary canon in the first half of the 20th century
