Chinese New Year

Over the next week the children will be exploring Chinese New Year, we will have lots of fun activities to do which will involve messy play with cooked noodles, using tongs to collect these up using their coordination doing so using tongs and chop sticks.

We will be counting golden coins and making mark's to represent Chinese numbers.

The children will also enjoy lots of crafts and have ago of making and drawing their very own Chinese Dragons.

The children will also using their imaginations to cook up some Chinese meals in our very own Chinese restaurant, were they will be able to explore using chop sticks and looking at different Chinese foods through pictures and pretend foods and menus.

This week to go with our Chinese New Year topic we will read 'Maisy's Chinese New Year', which learns us lots of fun facts about Chinese New Year.

The Colour Monster

Our story this week is 'The Colour Monster', this story explores emotions and feelings and separates feelings and emotions through colour.

The children have enjoyed lots of activities to go alongside this topic and have enjoyed especially choosing their emotions through books, emotion pillows and by choosing our very own Colour Monsters to express how they have felt.

To finish off this topic the children will also complete their very own colour monster work sheet, where they will choose their emotions through colour and colour their very own Colour Monster in to represent how they feel.

Please discuss feelings and emotions at home with your child to help support our topic in Pre School.

Thanks everyone for your continued support.

Wellbeing Focus for January

This month our wellbeing focus has been all about positivity and giving lots of praise and encouragement to the children, January is all about discussing our feelings and what makes us happy and also all about problem solving.

We have discussed as a group what Positivity means and all about what the children are positive about.
The children have given great answers for this which has been so lovely to observe.

We have also been discussing what we feel and what makes us happy, and have done this through choosing segments from our feelings circle board.

We have also been exploring lots of different activities especially problem solving activities, the children have especially enjoyed trying to solve how to get penguins from the frozen ice by melting it.
The children did great at this a figured out by using hot water, salt and heat they could release the penguins from the ice.

Finally the children have explored our positivity table and have chose from our positivity trees and positive labels to make marks on to what they are confident and positive about.

For homework this week we would like it if you can do some problem solving activities at home.

Thanks for your continued support as always.
