Goodbye James 👊🥋

Tonight we said goodbye to James Walker, who has been helping us teach our Kumite classes over the last 8 months.

James is now leaving his placement here in Liverpool and heading back to Nottingham University to continue with his degree.

We want to say a huge thank you to James for all the time, effort and commitment he has given to the club. His knowledge, enthusiasm and willingness to help have made a real difference, and he has helped so many of our students develop and improve their Kumite skills. 👊

We’re really grateful for everything you’ve done, James, and you’ll certainly be missed by everyone at the club.

Good luck with the rest of your degree and whatever comes next! We hope to see you back whenever you’re in Liverpool. 🥋

Thank you, James! Oss! 👊

🥋 Junior Belt System 🥋

As we finish celebrating this week’s junior gradings, we’d also like to recognise those students who are now reaching the top end of our junior belt system.

These students are beginning to take on greater responsibility in the dojo, leading by example and setting the standard for those following behind them. Alongside continuing to develop their own karate, they’re encouraged to help and support our newer and younger students, demonstrating the respect, patience and leadership that are such an important part of martial arts.

Our junior belt system isn’t just about developing good karate techniques,it’s about developing good people. By encouraging our senior juniors to become positive role models, we’re helping to build confidence, responsibility and the values that will stay with them both inside and outside the dojo.

To all of our senior junior grades, congratulations on reaching this stage of your journey. Continue to work hard, stay humble and keep inspiring those around you.

The next step is getting ever closer… 🥋

🥋 Junior Belt System 🥋

Congratulations once again to all 43 junior students from Malvern Shotokan Karate Club and Malvern Primary School who successfully graded over the past week! 👏

Our junior belt system has been designed specifically for our younger students, giving them regular opportunities to achieve new goals while developing the fundamental skills needed to progress in karate.

Each grading is about much more than learning new techniques. It’s an opportunity for students to build confidence, improve coordination, develop discipline and respect, and learn the value of hard work and perseverance—all within a positive, supportive and fun training environment.

By breaking the journey into smaller, achievable milestones, we’re able to recognise every student’s progress and keep them motivated as they work towards the senior belt system.

We’re incredibly proud of everything our young karateka have achieved and look forward to seeing them continue to grow both in the dojo and beyond.
