Sticky Fingers Day Nursery is a project of Imagine If Trust (charity number: 1147780) We look forward to hearing from you!

Sticky Fingers Day Nursery is a brand new nursery built on over a decade of working with children and their families. Our room is bright and spacious, with a wide range of toys, 65" interactive TV, outdoor play area and a fantastic team of staff who love working with children! Here at Sticky Fingers Day Nursery we aim to support all our children to enjoy playing together, to teach them in fun and interesting ways and to help them to respect and appreciate each other. We strive to provide quality childcare, all our staff are members of the local community and seek to build relationships with the family of each child. The nursery is part of Imagine If Trust, a registered charity; our aim is not to make profit but to provide value for money and a family focus. We can’t wait for Monday! 🎉

The nursery is all ready for reopening on Monday morning. The team have been busy the last few days getting the room ready and have had some time of training including safeguarding and how best to support children with quality communication and language. We have also been out and about delivering flyers and putting them up in shops letting people know that we have some places left for children aged 2,3 and 4, we offer full days and morning or afternoon sessions. We are open 8.30am-5.00pm each day during term time!

The children love mark making with malleable materials at nursery. As well as being lots of fun early mark making gives children a sensory experience that builds the physical and cognitive foundations for early writing.

We love reading at Sticky Fingers Day Nursery! The children are encouraged each day to explore books for themselves as well as having times on shared reading!

The holidays are just around the corner and we have been learning all about being safe in the sun 🌞 and by water 💦. It’s fun to play outside and enjoy being in nature with our families and friends ❤️

🥳 We celebrated Graduation 👨🏿‍🎓👩🏽‍🎓this week, thank you to all of our families who came! 🥳

📷 It was wonderful to look back at where the children began, the special memories made at nursery and all of the learning and progress we have seen in that time. 🎇

🏫 School has been our theme for the week! We hope all those who went to their school transition day had a lovely time meeting their teachers, new friends and seeing their school! 👩‍🏫

😄 It’s an exciting time that brings some nerves too and we are focused on helping the children transition well.

📖Books, school role play and small world stories are brilliant for the children to ‘practice school’ and have some real-life ways to understand what’s coming next, including our younger children who are staying with us next year. 👧🏽🧒🏼👦🏿

🌞We hope you have all managed to stay cool this week in the warm weather!

💦 We have had lots of water play and time in our cooler classroom downstairs.

📖 Our book this week has been The Perfect Number by Tony Bradman and Sr Sanchez. Numbers really are everywhere! 👀

From counting out cups ☕️ at snack time to matching numerals to the same number of ice cream scoops 🍦or seeing what happens when we add one more toy to a group ➕, our budding mathematicians enjoy number play 💯!

We have been making a 💦splash💦 exploring Oceans!

Decorating fish 🐠 and dolphin 🐬 templates the children made choices about how to stick on tissue paper, describing whether it was smooth or bumpy. 🗣

From water play with sea creatures 🐡 to a sea themed diorama, they have used our books to enhance their ideas 🐙 and stories. 📖

🦖Dino Fun!🦖

We have all been loving reading Penny Dale’s dinosaur book series 📚, finding out about their adventures ⛑, predicting what might happen on the next page 💬 and retelling the stories using small world toys. 🦕

The children have made dinosaur footprints with paint, 🎨 crunched cereal with them and made lots of roaring, crunching and munching sounds! 🔊 And lots more!

We have had a Number Party Week 🤩🎉 Our book has been Double the Fun where the numbers are celebrating a birthday 🎂🎁!

To name just a few activities, the children have
1️⃣ wrapped different shapes up as birthday presents 🟩🟢🔺
2️⃣ found numbers in bubbly water 🧼
3️⃣ made a shopping list and cut up bunting for the party ☑️
4️⃣ played party games and changed the volume from loud to quiet like the numbers in the story 🔈
5️⃣ had a party in the sensory room to finish off the week 🤩💃🕺🏻!
