βοΈ The Blue Umbrella βοΈ by Emily Ann Davison and Momoko Abe is a wonderful book. All about sheltering others under an umbrella and bringing different people together, it has been a springboard for showing kindness. π¦π½π³πΎββοΈπΆπΌπ§πΏ
We have also crafted umbrellas, followed repeating patterns on colourful umbrellas and used a parachute to make a den like the umbrella in the story.
πKindness isnβt just something we teach but something in our practice too!
Working with our families, each child at Sticky Fingers is valued and we strive to create an inclusive setting where each childβs voice is heard, verbal or pre verbal.π
We adapt the activities, routine of the day and layout of the room to make sure that every child is learning and thriving π±.

π Healthy Eating π
This week the children listened to Handas Surprise by Eileen Browne and did a food hunt based on the story. They played β Guess the fruit or vegetable β using clues and then making up their own clues for the game. π₯π₯¦π
Splashing in water play π¦ with toy food, they named what they found and made smoothies and fruit kebabs for snack πThey also learnt about where our food comes from, how itβs made π§π½π₯ and why eating healthy is good for us. π€©β¨
They looked at the inside of an apple and observed how it changed throughout the week. π Playing the Bean Game the children used their bodies related to different beans, running, stretching high and lying on the ground. πββοΈπ

π 5, 4, 3, 2, 1! Blast Off! We have been to the moon this week with our book Dinosaur Rocket by Penny Dale π¦.
We have counted planets, and aliens, π½ matching numbers to their value. The children have painted sparkly planets and role played in our rocket ship after watching a video of real astronauts travelling to space. π©βππ§βππ¨βπ They baked cheesy stars, measuring out the ingredients and working together to mix the ingredients.
βοΈThey had to be brave like the dinosaurs in the story by jumping off a big tower of tyres outside, cheering each other on by shouting βbe brave, be brave!β π€© They have done lots of mark making in flour, sand and with with felt tips on a space scene and have used hooks, pulleys and buttons in our Space small world π₯³πͺπ.

They made pictures of the seasons using different materials of their choice to represent each one. βοΈβοΈ
Developing their social skills, they have shared resources and ideas in games, learning about friendship and taking turns. π₯°
Using different shapes they arranged them to create different elements of Spring, a rabbit, πsheep πand a flower π·!

π·Spring has sprung at Sticky Fingers Day Nursery and we have begun seeing all of the changes that the new season brings.
π±The children have enjoyed reading The Tiny Seed by Eric Carle and took part in a sensory story following the journey of the seed. They blew straws for the wind, sat on a snowy mountain and poured water on the seeds until the last one became the tallest! π»
πΈLooking at a flower they named the different parts and have crafted their own. Hopping like rabbits in circle time they saw how a rabbit grows up. π
π¦They have also enjoyed playing with flowers and ducks in sand and water, and have spent plenty of time outside on our terrace, climbing on the equipment and digging in soil! πͺ΄
