Tis the season to not be a sheep 🐑
Seperate yourself in pre season with these factors ⤵️
- Be specific to your position
Don’t just run generic 5k’s: Work on your positional speed, power and conditioning
- Profile to analyse and monitor off season changes
It’s the freshest you’re going to be, so let’s analyse your speed, power and strength to give us insight into what you’re capable of
- Train like an athlete, NOT a bodybuilder (apart from some uppers and arms ahead of your holiday, fill them sleeves).
High volume / low weights are useless. Maximise this time of year to increase your strength and power. Keep volume low but intensity high.
- Make sure you sprint!
Not sprinting for 6 weeks then returning to pre season has disaster written all over it.

In season most footballers are frightened of being sore 😭
I get it, implementing a decent amount of eccentric training can certainly cause some soreness if it’s new to you.
But with no team training or games to be concerned about = now is your time!
A footballers speed can be limited if they can’t slow down…
Unfortunately for footballers unlike sprinters, you have to stop and change direction. So if you’ve got a poor braking system, chances are you will never reach your true acceleration speeds because you take longer to slow down.
Take Ed, our online client who came to work with us during his ACL return. One of the first things we worked on was exactly that - identified a poor braking system from our analysis.
Not only did he become more explosive, but he also developed a robustness to go back mid season and play over 900 minutes of football!
That’s a huge win for anyone coming back from a long term injury 📈
