What a lovely review of LMNS musicians Sophie Joint and Breanna Wilson's concert at Music at Paxton from Seen and Heard International. We simply had to share it! 🎶
"...this was a concert that I did not want to end. So praise where praise is due to Breanna and Sophie who certainly captured the joyful essence of traditional Scottish and Irish music."

It was a joy to play two concerts at Ellen Tinkham School this morning!
Special moments included:
- a large circle of Waltzing students and adults during the Sleeping beauty waltz
- whole group percussion during the Hornpipe, with everyone anticipating the fast and slow bits and having a great time
- Alex’s amazing ability to play the piano and answer many questions at the same time! (This multitasking ability currently honed by his two young children at home, methinks)
- one student mesmerised by the flute for a long time
- one teacher particularly enjoyed the mellow sounds of the bass flute
- ALOT of dancing
- a small group of students who stood next to the piano and sang along
Thank you to Live Music Now for making this possible and to The Cave Foundation for funding this concert.
With Alex Wilson - Pianist and Ruth Molins, flute

Afternoon Concert with Delyth Jenkins
Wed 28 Jun 1:30pm
Delyth Jenkins plays Welsh traditional music on the Celtic harp, although it is perhaps her own compositions that have made the most lasting impression. Starting her career with the folk band Cromlech, she went on to form the pioneering instrumental trio Aberjaber.
Her book ‘That Would Be Telyn’ recounts her remarkable 186 mile walk along the Pembrokeshire Coast Path, taking her small harp with her and giving a series of impromptu pathside concerts to walkers along the way.
Led by professional Live Music Now musicians, our uplifting afternoon concerts in The Glam Suite bring people together to enjoy fantastic toe-tapping live music or moving classical pieces in a relaxed setting. Perfect for catching up with family or with friends whilst enjoying coffee, cake or a small tipple!
Book tickets now: https://bit.ly/3m55IVt
Tickets: £7.50 All tickets include either tea or coffee with a delicious slice of cake.

🌱STRIVE FOR SUSTAINABILITY🌱
As an organisation, we feel strongly about sustainability and the importance of green policy, and over recent years we have contributed to a number of different initiatives aimed at improving the green credentials of the creative and cultural sector. And, we want to help spread the word!
The Scottish Classical Sustainability Group (SCSG) has launched its new report ‘Classical Music and Train Travel in Scotland 2022-23’. Collated using learning from the 30+ members of the SCSG, LMNS being one of them, the report highlights five key barriers currently preventing greater use of train travel by Scotland’s classical music sector:
1) timetables,
2) ticket costs,
3) travel with large instruments,
4) international connections, and
5) accessibility.
For many classical music organisations in Scotland, travel is often one of the most signifiant contributors to annual emissions. In order to reach government climate targets, it is vital that the classical music industry is supported in making the necessary changes. The report sets out the challenges that must be addressed in order to progress towards a net-zero society. Check it out:https://www.creativecarbonscotland.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/SCSG-Train-Travel-Report-2022-23_compressed.pdf
Additionally, Creative Carbon Scotland has kindly created a landing page for the SCSG on their website. This will host SCSG's existing Guide, the new report, and anything they produce in the future: https://www.creativecarbonscotland.com/green-arts-initiative/scottish-classical-sustainability-group/

residencies in care homes integrate music into care plans supporting residents’ health and wellbeing and improving service. Read about our work with Care Uk in an article by Alex Coulter of The National Centre For Creative Health in Caring Times.
The article celebrates the achievements of everyone who took part, the improvement in the team's skills in leading music activities and the positive impact on the health and wellbeing of residents living with dementia.
"Margaret, a resident who lives with advanced dementia at Appleby House, has also experienced a huge benefit in her day-to-day life. Care home manager Shona reports that Margaret was previously unable to communicate but 'is now not only singing, but actively participates in movement and actions when singing. Honestly, I cannot tell you how surprised and mesmerised I am to see how engaged this lady is. It’s absolutely incredible seeing the power of music at work. You wouldn’t believe it’s the same person.'
