They MUST adhere to the principles of natural justice.
Top tip- So most of you who decided to appeal would have received your appeal packs/forms by now whether hard copy or online. It is important that you complete the form and return it before the deadline. Not to worry about collating evidence or writing your appeal statement. In the section on the form that asks for your reasons for appealing, just put a sentence giving your basic reasons and then say "further information to follow in due course"
Top Tips - Once you have decided to appeal and submitted your appeal form in advance of the deadline or are planning to do so shortly, you can start collating your evidence, school letters/reports, your own statement, medical evidence (if needed), attendance records, achievements etc. These evidences would depend on your reasons for appealing and the school you are appealing for e.g. Grammar School with entry exam would require proof of academic abilities, medical grounds for appealing would require supporting medical evidence e.g. GP letters, appointment letters etc. (try and ensure that any medical evidence is dated within 6 months)
Top Tips - If you unhappy with your child's allocation and you are planning to appeal the decision, first enquire about how to appeal (directly to school or via local authority), then complete an appeals form (hard copy or online) and submit it as soon as possible (find out about the deadline date).
