What an unforgettable evening for our pupils at St. Mary's Prep! ⚽️🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿

Last night, we had the fantastic opportunity to watch the England Lionesses take on Ukraine at the Hill Dickinson Stadium. From the moment we arrived, the atmosphere was electric, with thousands of supporters coming together to cheer on the national team.

Our pupils loved experiencing top-level international football firsthand, watching the skill, determination, and teamwork of the Lionesses on one of the world's most famous stages. It was a wonderful opportunity to inspire our young sports enthusiasts and create lasting memories beyond the classroom.

A huge thank you to Rachel Brown-Finnis for giving our pupils the opportunity to take a photo pitch side and to everyone who helped make this special trip possible. We are sure it will be an evening our pupils will remember for many years to come!

Although the Whole School Big Lent Walk was unable to take place as planned on Friday, which would have been Year 6’s final Big Lent Walk at the Prep, they decided to hold their own special walk to our beautiful local beach. ⛱️🍦

There, the pupils enjoyed an ice cream treat before spending time playing in the sand. Pupils and staff enjoyed creating more special memories and soaking up these final few weeks together at the Prep. A wonderful time was had by all!

As Year 6 make the most of their final half-term at the Prep, 6M have begun an exciting new Biology topic during their regular science lessons at St. Mary's College, Crosby, helping to prepare them for their transition there in September. 🔬✨

During the lesson, pupils were introduced to microscopes, learning how to identify and label their different parts before putting their knowledge into practice.

The children then prepared their own slides using onion skin and a few drops of iodine, discovering how the iodine helps make the cells easier to see. Using the microscopes, they carefully observed, examined and sketched the onion cells they could see.

This hands-on investigation gave the class a fascinating insight into the microscopic world. They thoroughly enjoyed the practical activity, developed their scientific skills and learnt a great deal about cells and the important role microscopes play in helping scientists study them.

What an exciting and engaging start to their new Biology topic!

Well done to our Year 5 & 6 pupils who competed in the AJIS Athletics held at Longford Park this week. The children produced some brilliant individual performances and were incredibly supportive of each other throughout the day. A particular well done to Jaxson, Henry, Reuben and Aine, who all managed a bronze medal in their individual events! 🌟

It has been a pleasure to welcome the Lower Sixth students from St. Mary's College, Crosby to the Prep School on a regular basis this year. Their visits have been a highlight for many of our children, who have thoroughly enjoyed reading, chatting and spending time with them.

The students have been fantastic role models and a tremendous support, especially during lunch time, making it an even more vibrant time for the children. Thank you! ✨

Year 5 Residential – A JCA Adventure 2026! 🌟

Our Year 5 pupils and teachers recently enjoyed an action-packed residential trip to Condover Hall, where they embraced a wide range of exciting activities, including abseiling, watersports, laser quest, team-building challenges, dancing, puzzle-solving, obstacle courses, the Leap of Faith, archery, axe throwing, raft building, fencing, and much more.

The trip provided countless opportunities for pupils to step outside their comfort zones, tackle their fears, and rise to new challenges. Throughout the trip, they demonstrated resilience, teamwork, and determination, while creating unforgettable memories with their friends.

The children returned home with greater confidence, new skills, a sense of achievement, and plenty of stories to share from an incredible adventure. We are so proud of everything they accomplished during their time away.

Reception pupil, Zoe, took over from Miss Johnson for a few moments last week to teach the rest of the class how to count from 1 to 10 in Chinese.

The children and Miss Johnson followed Zoe’s lead as she carefully taught each number one by one. Everyone was incredibly impressed with Teacher Zoe’s clear instructions, confidence, and patience throughout the activity.

The class thoroughly enjoyed learning from Zoe and were excited to practise the numbers afterwards. Well done, Zoe! 🌟

‘Breakfast with’ Mrs Savage! ☕️✨

Our new Year 5 Librarians were treated to a beautiful brunch with Mrs Savage as a thank you for all of their hard work and dedication in helping to make our library spaces places everyone wants to visit.

Mrs Savage created a wonderful setting surrounded by the children’s hard work, complete with a tablecloth, flowers, and plenty of delicious treats. With nearly a whole tub of chocolate spread polished off, it is fair to say the girls thoroughly enjoyed themselves!

Each librarian also received a notebook and pen to use while working in the library, and they proudly wore their new librarian badges for the occasion.

Mrs Savage went to a great deal of effort to show the girls just how much their volunteering means to the school, and the Prep ‘Breakfast With’ initiative was the perfect opportunity to celebrate and thank them for their contribution.
