For well over a decade, Bidston Avenue Primary School has been proud to work alongside The Johnson Foundation , helping to raise aspirations and broaden horizons for our children. This project has also spread into many other Wirral schools since its inception.

Founded in 1987 by Wirral businessman and philanthropist Peter Johnson, the Foundation was built on a simple belief: that a child’s background should never limit their future opportunities. Despite leaving school with few formal qualifications, Peter went on to build Park Group into a highly successful national business and dedicated much of his life to supporting education, health and communities across the Liverpool City Region. One of the most powerful examples of that legacy is My Big Future. Through visits such as this week’s experience at the University of Liverpool, our Year 5 pupils are encouraged to think beyond what they know today and begin imagining the opportunities that could lie ahead.

Projects like My Big Future help make those ambitions feel real, achievable and within reach.

We are grateful to the Johnson Foundation and all the partners who continue to invest in the futures of young people across Wirral. Peter Johnson’s legacy lives on through the thousands of children whose aspirations have been raised through opportunities like these. (thejohnsonfoundation.co.uk)

Looks like you had a great time at the zoo!

There was lots of excitement and curiosity as our Year 1 explorers visited Chester Zoo this week.

This half term, Meadow Primary School's Y5 have engaged in some creative writing, with the top three pieces from each class being submitted to a competition (open to Primary Schools across Ellesmere Port) run by The Whitby High School .

The prompt was "If I could travel anywhere...". The stories had to be 200 words and include a range of devices. All of the children enjoyed the process and choosing the top three in each class was not easy. We are pleased to share that from all entries, Flo in Greece received 2nd place and Eleanor in Brazil came 1st!

🌿 Sustainability in action at Meadow Primary School 🌿

Our Meadow children have been busy taking the first exciting steps in developing a new nature area on Meadow Fields.

With the help of Wildlife Club, part of the field has now been sectioned off using dead hedging, creating the start of a special space for wildlife, outdoor learning and future sustainability projects.

This area is still a work in progress, so we kindly ask families and children to keep out of the nature area for the next few weeks while it is being developed. Meadow Fields can still be used as normal.

There is more to come too, with zoo family tickets arriving soon and litter pickers on their way to support the children’s work in caring for their environment.

The school is also launching a brilliant “Name the Bug Hotel” competition, with each class invited to come up with a fun, creative or pun-filled name. The winning name will be chosen and displayed on a sign for everyone to enjoy.

A huge well done to everyone involved. This is a lovely example of children learning to care for their local environment while making a real difference to their school grounds.

We look forward to seeing Meadow’s nature area grow over the coming weeks. 🐝🌱
