Summer Holiday Club Fun at Bonnie Bear! ☀️🌈🐻

What a fantastic week we’ve had making memories together!

From exciting adventures at Forest School, to exploring the park, playing team games and making new friends, every day has been filled with laughter, learning and fun.

Back at The Bear Cave, our children loved making their own refreshing homemade ice lollies—measuring, pouring and mixing the ingredients before enjoying them together in the sunshine. 🍧💛

At Bonnie Bear, our Holiday Club is all about giving children the freedom to explore, build confidence, develop new skills and create unforgettable summer memories in a safe, nurturing environment.

💧 Learning Through Play in Action! 💧

A simple moment, but one full of learning! 🌈

In this very short clip, our practitioners are modelling the word “squeeze” while encouraging the children to create different patterns in the water. As they explore lines, circles, zig-zags and swirls, children are developing their communication and language, fine motor skills, creativity and early mathematical thinking by noticing and creating repeating patterns.

By modelling rich vocabulary and joining in with children’s play, we help turn everyday experiences into meaningful learning opportunities.

☀️ Morning Fun in Polar Bears! ☀️

Our Polar Bears had a fantastic morning making the most of the sunshine while exploring this month’s concept, ‘Water and Flow’. 💧⛲

The children loved getting creative in the mud kitchen, using different coloured water in a variety of bottles. They explored squeezing, pumping, mixing and pouring, developing their fine motor skills while investigating how water moves and changes.

We also enjoyed a sink or float investigation, where the children made predictions before testing a range of objects from around the room to discover whether they would sink or float. This encouraged curiosity, critical thinking and early scientific enquiry.

Throughout the morning, practitioners introduced rich vocabulary such as full, empty, more, less, heavy, light, pour, mix, sink and float, helping to develop both communication, language and early mathematical understanding through purposeful play.

It was a wonderful morning full of exploration, discovery and lots of smiles! 🌈🐻

☀️ Fun in the Sun at Bonnie Bear! ☀️

Our Panda Bears enjoyed some fun in the sunshine while exploring this month’s concept, ‘Water and Flow’. 💧⛲

Through a range of hands-on activities, the children investigated how water moves as they poured, squeezed, splashed and mixed to create magical potions and delicious mud pies. They were fascinated as they watched the fountain sprinkle, encouraging curiosity, exploration and rich conversations throughout their play.

Our practitioners modelled rich vocabulary such as pour, squeeze, splash, flow and sprinkle, while also introducing mathematical language including full, empty, more, less, heavy, light, big, small, enough and measure as the children filled, emptied and compared different containers. These everyday moments help children develop early mathematical understanding through meaningful, purposeful play.

With the warm weather, we also made sure everyone enjoyed plenty of hydration breaks and opportunities to cool down, ensuring the children stayed happy, safe and comfortable while making the most of the sunshine. ☀️💙

✨ Just a snapshot of purposeful practice at Bonnie Bear Day Care ✨

Yesterday, our children were fascinated watching workmen operating a crane near the nursery. This short clip is just a snapshot of one interaction, but it perfectly captures how our practitioners turn children’s natural curiosity into meaningful learning.

Rather than simply watching, staff used the moment to extend children’s communication and language skills by introducing new vocabulary, asking thoughtful questions, encouraging predictions and giving every child the opportunity to share their ideas.

These spontaneous moments are often where the richest learning takes place because they are led by the children’s genuine interests and fascinations.
