BABY BEARS SET SAIL ON A SENSORY ADVENTURE! ππ€
Our babies explored this monthβs concept of Movement & Travel through a wonderful nautical-themed tuff tray experience. βπ
The children enjoyed investigating the water and seaside-themed resources, engaging their senses while developing important physical skills through play.
β¨ Using sponges to absorb and squeeze out water
β¨ Developing fine motor skills and hand strength
β¨ Splashing, pouring and exploring water through sensory play
β¨ Watching boats float and move across the water
β¨ Learning about motion and how objects travel on water
The water provided a rich sensory experience, encouraging the children to explore different movements, textures and cause-and-effect relationships. They were fascinated by how the boats floated and travelled across the tray, making meaningful connections to our Movement & Travel concept.
Activities like these support childrenβs physical development, communication and language skills, understanding of the world and early scientific thinkingβall while having lots of fun! ππ

π»πΏ POLAR BEARS CONTINUE THEIR MOVEMENT & TRAVEL ADVENTURES πΏπ»
Our Polar Bears have continued exploring this monthβs concept, Movement & Travel, through a variety of exciting hands-on experiences! πβ¨
Inspired by one of our favourite stories, Tip Tip Dig Dig, the children enjoyed investigating a sensory tuff tray filled with mud, natural materials and construction-themed resources. They loved digging, transporting and exploring the different textures while bringing the story to life through play. π±π§
The children also demonstrated growing independence during snack time by peeling their own fruit. ππ This provided a wonderful opportunity to strengthen fine motor skills, hand-eye coordination and confidence in self-care routines.
Outside in the garden, the adventures continued as the children:
β¨ Climbed and balanced on the balancing beans
β¨ Developed coordination, balance and physical confidence
β¨ Explored the mud kitchen through imaginative play
β¨ Investigated different textures and natural materials
β¨ Used their bodies to move, climb, balance and explore
These experiences support childrenβs physical development, problem-solving skills, independence and understanding of movement through meaningful, hands-on learning opportunities.

In line with our movement and travel concept our baby bears enjoyed exploring Movement & Travel through a farm-themed sensory tuff tray experience. πΎππ
The children loved investigating the different farm animals, vehicles and natural materials, using their hands to scoop, dig, push and explore the sensory textures around them. β¨
Through play, the children were:
π Moving farm vehicles through the tray
π Exploring and transporting animals around the farm
π€² Developing fine motor skills through scooping and grasping
πΎ Enjoying a rich sensory experience with different textures
π£οΈ Building language through key words such as move, push, drive, transport and farm
Sensory play provides wonderful opportunities for children to explore how things move while supporting their physical development, communication skills and understanding of the world around them.

As part of our June concept, Movement & Travel, our Grizzly Bears enjoyed an exciting visit to our nursery soft play area! π
The children enthusiastically explored the different sections of the soft play environment, developing their confidence and physical skills through active play and movement.
β¨ Running and moving freely through the play area
β¨ Navigating different obstacles and spaces
β¨ Climbing the soft steps with determination
β¨ Exploring new ways to move their bodies
β¨ Relaxing and swinging in the hammock
These experiences support childrenβs gross motor development, balance, coordination and spatial awareness while encouraging them to take safe risks, build confidence and challenge themselves in new ways.
It was wonderful to see the children exploring with such enthusiasm, supporting one another and celebrating their achievements throughout the session. What a fantastic adventure! ππ

Today, our babies enjoyed a wonderful sensory experience exploring a variety of different balls as part of our June concept, Movement & Travel. β½οΈπ§Άπ
Through touching, grasping, rolling and investigating the different balls, the children were developing both their fine and gross motor skills while learning about how objects move and interact with the world around them. β¨
We introduced and modelled key vocabulary throughout the activity, including:
π Shake
β½ Roll
π Bounce
By hearing and experiencing these words in context, the children are building their understanding of language while making meaningful connections through play.
Sensory experiences like these support physical development, communication and language skills, curiosity and early scientific thinkingβall while having lots of fun! π

Our babies had a wonderful time engaging in sensory-rich water play as part of this monthβs theme of Textures and Materials πβ¨
The children explored a variety of exciting textures and objects floating in the water, including:
π Sea animals

π Glittery water
π Flexible sensory tubes
The babies loved splashing, pouring, squeezing and moving the different materials around the tray while exploring how each item felt in their hands π§
