Year 5 pupils were back in Mr Croghan’s office showcasing fantastic pieces of homework. These dioramas showing the different layers of the rainforest were made from leaves, twigs and other bits you might find in your garden, which really bring them to life!
Dragon update...
We have found more dragons!
Luckily they are a friendly bunch of little dragons 😊 Although we are unsure if they are fire breathing yet! 🔥
More fantastic Art coming into the Headteacher’s office, this time inspired by the work of Henri Rousseau. Some were even inspired to create more pieces at home. Well done Year 5 😀
Our early years children were amazed this morning to find large, green footprints in St Francis' class!
We think a dragon may have come in over the weekend to explore our class cave as it made a bit of a mess. We believe it may have flapped its gigantic dragon wings and knocked things over!
We will let you know if we have any more dragon sightings!
Mixing potions with St Philip’s class! 🧪
Flying fire! Another amazing experience ☺️
WOW! This was so much fun 🤩
Photos from St Philip’s day at St Oscar Romero!
What an amazing and magical day St Philip’s class had at St Oscar Romero Catholic School! Yesterday, we started our preparations by drawing our own Patronus and cracking some of the clues to give us some letters to find out who had stolen the Philosopher’s stone!
Today, we got into the spirit by watching the teachers perform a short play to explain the day, played a quidditch match and then took part in three awesome science experiments! We followed the teacher’s instructions carefully to make sure we stayed safe and had so much fun!

There were even prizes for two of our pupils who wowed the teachers.

St Philip’s class represented our school fantastically with superb manners and took part with great enthusiasm!
Thank you to everyone who helped organise the day, lots of amazing experiences to remember. Well done everyone!

Well done to the wonderful Year 3s and Kerry for this great dance about the Eucharist.
Year 4 have kicked off their very egg-citing Art project!
HERE IT IS!

We hope you enjoy seeing what we all got up to. 📕📖📚

In Year 5, Mrs Hart has been so impressed with the start pupils have made to their keyboard lessons. They have taken all their music reading skills from learning the recorder and quickly applied them to a new instrument. We can't wait to see what they will be able to play by the end of the year 😀

We are proud to share with you that St Catherine's has achieved the Platinum School Games Mark award for their commitment and engagement in the School Games for 2022/23. The School Games Mark is a Government-led award scheme which rewards schools for their commitment to the development of competition across their school and into the community, and we are delighted to have been recognised for our success. We are extremely proud of our pupils for their dedication to all aspects of school sport. A big thank you to Mr Langlois and Mr Green for all their hard work! :)

Yesterday, pupils enjoyed a whole morning of music. They started by learning a new song in the hall and then made their way round different classrooms where each teacher had an exciting activity for them to try. Pupils got to try new instruments, explore making sound effects and even wrote some tunes of their own. What a fun morning! 😀

A huge well done to all the boys and girls who represented the school at the LASP games yesterday. Quite a few pupils weren't able to make it at the last minute which meant that many of the ones who did had to compete in more than one event, often with little time to catch their breath in between! So it was a fantastic display of physical endurance and sporting talent. We are all very proud 😀

This year is Mrs Gosden's 25th at St Catherine's and we marked the anniversary by looking back over those years and sharing memories together in assembly. We heard about her time helping with choir, breakfast club, Year 6 residential trips and all of the times she was there for pupils when they needed it most. Mrs Gosden received a special certificate from Bishop Richard in recognition of her contribution to Catholic Education in the diocese. We thank you for all that you have done for the school, Mrs Gosden, and are very pleased that you promised to be with us for another 25 years at assembly! 😀

The whole school came together yesterday for a special liturgy to celebrate a number of our pupils making their First Holy Communion. Congratulations to you all!😀

Last week, our choir took part in a 'Celebration of Song' with all the schools in our locality and kicked off the event with a show-stopping performance of 'This is Me'. A huge well done to everyone who took part for all the hard work put in, and of course Mrs Hart and Mrs Gray for preparing them so well for the event. We were all so proud! Visit our website to see a video of the performance https://www.st-catherines.w-sussex.sch.uk/page/?title=Music&pid=54&action=saved

Members of our liturgy team joined their peers from all the schools in our diocese last week for the annual 'Good Shepherd' liturgy, which took place at Arundel Cathedral this year to mark its anniversary. Our pupils enjoyed the time to reflect on how we can all be ‘Good Shepherds’ in our own lives.

A big thank you for all your contributions yesterday towards our new rose bushes, which have been planted in blue pots around the statue of Mary in our Prayer Garden. Fr Boniface joined us for one of our lunch Rosary gatherings last week to bless them. A special thank you also to the Parish of St Catherine’s and the SVP
(St Vincent de Paul) who kindly contributed to this project. 😀

A snapshot of Year 4’s day on retreat from Miss McGonigle: All marvellously behaved, happy and engaged. A great walk in the beautiful sunshine, in a picturesque part of the world. The man in the Cathedral was very impressed with the thoughtful manner in which they choose their gifts and souvenirs. A credit to St Catherine’s.😍

What a brilliant, fun-packed Times Tables Rock Stars assembly this morning. We had guest judges, a live battle, a best-dressed competition and we finished on a high by crowning our Air Guitar champions. A big thank you to all pupils and staff for making such a fantastic effort. As we explained in our assembly, strong counting and times tables skills give pupils a solid foundation to be successful in the rest of the maths curriculum. So make sure to keep up the practice and we might have some new winners next time around! 😀

20/04/2023

Fr Boniface joined us this afternoon to celebrate mass for the resurrection. Pupils adorned our cross with handmade flowers to mark this special time in the liturgical year. What a lovely way to start the term!
