Students at The Littlehampton Academy have again been very excited to collect their results this morning, which allow them to access the sixth form and College courses they have chosen following all their hard work, resilience and determination.

This continued success at TLA is a reflection of the way students have worked closely with teachers and support staff who ensured they had everything they needed to complete their exams and other assessments with confidence and ambition.

Principal, Sarah Pringle, said: “We are so proud of our students and delighted that they are so happy with their results. Year 11 is always such a busy year, full of challenges and excitement, leading to the moment when our students open the envelope and see that their efforts have paid off as they look forward to continuing their educational journey in September. This year group in particular has had an incredibly positive attitude to their studies and demonstrated everything we hope for from our young people. We wish them all the best for their next steps.”
Ms Wolfenden Head of Year 11 said “the year 11 team is so proud of each of its students and that today’s results are part of the bright futures they’re building. We celebrate the success we see today, acknowledging this is the final outcome of a long journey full of hard work and dedication from the students and staff.
Today represents so much more than academic success; it highlights the incredible growth, maturity and a determination to achieve. We are confident they are prepared for the opportunities ahead of them.”

Students were keen to share their results with TLA staff and particularly praised the support they received from the year 11 pastoral team and teachers who had worked tirelessly with them all year, keeping them focused and positive as the exams approached.

Parents and carers accompanying the year 11s to collect their results were quick to praise the support received from the Learning Support team and the teachers providing additional intervention and personalised revision for them. The overwhelming feeling at TLA this morning was one of a huge team effort being rewarded by happy students and improved results.

Over the last few weeks our Year 8 Geography students have been investigating water infiltration rates around the TLA site. Students have completed the full fieldwork cycle including completing risk assessments and collecting and graphing their data before completing their analysis. Students enjoyed learning outside of the classroom and working collaboratively with their peers.

Last week, the geography team had the pleasure of taking our Year 10 (new Year 11) geography students to Littlehampton Beach to complete the compulsory physical fieldwork element of their GCSE. Their task was to investigate the effectiveness of the coastal management strategies along the seafront.
Students dealt with the high temperatures and demonstrated exemplary behaviour throughout the day. In between collecting data and surveying the sea wall, students were rewarded with a well deserved ice lolly!
Well done to everyone for all their hard work.

Have you all seen the new Wayfinding signs and characters positioned around Littlehampton?

TLA students took part in this (roughly) year long art project within the community. This included interviewing an artist with 'Artswork', attending council meetings, placing their proposals, gaining funding, collaborating on how to develop the Wayfinding routes and designing the visuals.
There were many hurdles along the way but we at TLA are really impressed to see how their ideas and designs were made into the routes, pathway characters, posters and post sleeves.
We celebrated by joining the Mayor to cut the ribbon and declare the project complete.
So next time you see a crab, seagull or octopus image or just remember our fabulous art students made this happen along side 'Artswork'.
It was a fantastic opportunity and I am so proud of all those who participated and look forward to the next community art project. Mrs L Sheldon
