A poem by Georgie Y6
And just like that it's over
And just like that it's almost over.
I don't think anybody understands how weird this feels.
Or maybe you do, you're just not saying it out loud.
Like we've been here for years,
Walking the same halls,
Seeing the same faces,
Living the same routine,
Every single day.
And now...it's basically just over,
Like it was nothing.
I keep thinking about the little things.
The random laughs in class, the teachers yelling at us to stop, the people I used to talk to every single day, who are becoming strangers.
And it hurts... in a weird way that nobody talks about.
Because Primary wasn't perfect.
Gosh, I've been counting down the days till we leave since day one.
I've cried a lot here and I've felt so alone.
I've questioned everything about myself in this building.
But I also found pieces of who I am.
And I am the way I am because of this school.
One day you're sitting in class counting down the minutes till 3.20, the next you are counting the days until it's all gone.
And I swear, I thought we had more time.
More time to fix things and friendships.
To say what we've never said.
To be closer, better, to actually live in the moment instead of rushing through it all.
Now everything is a last.
The last time I'll see certain faces.
The last inside joke.
The last day we don't even realise is the last until it's all gone.
And that's the part that's breaking me π
We didn't know, we never knew...
I'm scared of growing up, leaving people, becoming just a memory in somebody else's life.
Because what if this was it?
What if these were the people who knew me the best?
Now we are just going to go our separate ways.
I kind of wish I could go back...just for a little while.
Back to the good old days.
Not to change it, just to feel it again without knowing it was ending.
Because now it's just a place I am leaving.
A version of me I will never get back.
And just like that it's all over π₯Ί
