What do we mean by home? Home is a number of places, at different times. At the weekend we went for a quick getaway to our favourite anchorage, Pilsey, in Chichester Harbour, a place that can feel like home. Our boat, the much loved (and scruffy) Polly B, felt like home. On Sunday we left Chichester to come back to Arun Yacht Club, Littlehampton, where it feels like home. And then having left our boat nicely tucked up, we went to our house. Our home.
Home is where you feel like you can be yourself, feel safe, know your surroundings and are with people you love.
It's a great metaphor for our final home.
Where feels like home for you?

We're back after an eventful month that should have been all about sailing. It was more about not sailing, making sure we were safe from the enormous winds and remembering that even when it feels terrible, bad times don't last forever.
Last year's holiday was quite different and therefore taught me a different set of lessons.

I am speaking at the CIPD's Festival of Work next week as one of the "human books" in their People Library. I shall be talking about miscarriage and why the support you get can miss the mark, sometimes really badly. It's a matter of perspective.

More details: Miscarriage and still birth are subjects that rarely get talked about. When a member of staff is experiencing it, the reaction from many around them may not be the most supportive. It's not heartlessness; it's misunderstanding. Without the right perspective you can't hope to show empa...

My volunteering at TLA is about to come to an end, which means I have some capacity. Which local charity could do with some free consultancy, training or leadership mentoring?

If you are looking for someone to work with on a project, you need to have confidence in them and their ability, knowledge and personality. Can you trust them? This is what other people have said about me.

What's it like to work with Janet? Well let's ask those who have worked with her. Not your average CV but the voices of those who know.

On Sunday I am preaching, so today I am finishing off my prep. Not that long ago it would have been unthinkable that a woman could preach in a service that men attended. (There are still some places where it is still pretty taboo.) 20 years ago it was fairly normal for people to say that they preferred to hear a man preach.

Today is International Women's Day. If you are on Twitter then I encourage you to look at who are showing the gender pay gap of companies who are "celebrating" IWD today. It makes interesting reading.

We still have a long way to go.
