The children in Y2 have been learning about the Great Fire of London.
They used historical sources to find out what houses were like in London in 1666 and then recreated the fire on the playground, starting from the Bakery in Pudding lane. They found out that the fire spread so quickly because the city was full of narrow streets and wooden houses. They learnt how things changed as a result of the GFoL.
The children completed their own risk assessments and did a lesson on fire safety. 🔥

Carols in the Carpark 🎶
This Autumn term at St Margaret's has had a 'CREATE' focus!🎨
Across the school we were considering enquiry questions of 'What do you treasure?', 'Is it better to stand out or fit in?', 'Can an illustration tell a story?', 'Does graffiti and street art improve an environment?', 'Is there colour without light?' and 'Is art just an illusion?'.
We celebrated all of our creative achievements this term with a whole school exhibition. Hope you enjoy a peek!

For their ‘Create’ topic - Year 2 organised and performed a 'Kindness Fashion Show'.
Their big question was ‘Is it better to stand out or fit in?’
By answering this question, they explored the ideas of craftivism (a peaceful protest using crafts). They designed and printed their own tshirts, sculpted jewellery, and used paper to make a 3D headpiece. What incredible designs and great moves too! 🎨 💃🏼 🕺🏻
