We discussed doing something a little different. We didn't fancy a rhyme scheme, so went for the power of repetition instead.

Sound on for the most beautiful affirmation read aloud. ✨️

We always spend the last couple of minutes on these cards and discuss what it means and how it is relevant to us. I lead with an example from my life and allow the child space to open up if they feel comfortable.

So important to help these little ones understand this complicated world around us and the (natural) feelings that arise daily.

For all those who are reluctant to even put pen to paper for fear of failure...

this one's for you...

Try oral story telling.

Here we used a visual story box to encourage the imagination and still discussed the ingredients needed for a great story, but instead of writing it down, we did it over and over again orally.

This allowed for us to keep improving, tweaking, adding and rearranging.. and my gosh.. i was BLOWN OVER by the incredible work the students accomplished.

I jotted away while their imaginations ran wild and kept poking for different sentence structure, increased description and various creative techniques and nobody was disappointed in themselves, frustrated with spellings, or bored with writing.

Genius! ✏️✏️
