After a trip to the library we visited Mackenzie Art Events art exhibition in the old Top Shop space in High Chelmer. One little boy was very proud of his daddy’s artwork!

We did a Donaldson double and visited Gruffalo Trail - Thorndon Country Park, Brentwood and the Southweald Country Park Stickman trail. It was great to have the whole day outside exploring and playing 🌟 It was a very quiet car on the way home 💤💤 😊

Another brilliant visit to Such a charming, welcoming and genuine animal experience. The children loved cuddling kittens, chicks, rabbits and guinea pigs and feeding all the others. Such a wonderful experience. “Eli, that is my favourite place,” one passenger announced on the way home 😊

We had such a wonderful time Hatfield Forest NT exploring the ancient woodland with endless trees to climb, dens to explore and bug hunting galore! We finished with an ice-cream as it’s the holidays 😊 and a game of boules and quoits!

We had a lovely trip to Cammas Hall Farm to celebrate the arrival of summer. The children picked their own strawberries, learning to look for the dark red fruits and leaving the green fruits to ripen. We discussed why the plants in the poly tunnel might have had many more strawberries than the plants outside. After all their hard work we had a long play in the play area and sampled a few! 😁🍓

I love Elder. Such a lovely natural resource for little hands to saw, craft with and when in bloom, making Elderflower ‘lemonade’ is a must! The children picked the flowers, we soaked them, added lots of freshly squeezed lemon and orange juice (great for strengthening those little hand muscles) and some sugar, drained through a cloth and then we added fizzy or still water.... a taste of fresh meadow and the children loved it.

We have been lucky to welcome Alana for the past couple of weeks for some work experience. As an Equine Management student we created an Animal Care immersive environment for the children. We set up a Veterinary Practice with lots of real resources for them to use; weighing scales, real X-rays, syringes, bandages, report forms, appointment cards, animal carriers and Acorn and Mr. Mouse our very lovely guinea pigs moved in for the fortnight. We had lots of discussion about pets, how we look after them, the role of vets and Alana gave us an informative pony care demonstration for the children and they then joined in the grooming. The children absolutely loved the whole experience! They adopted the new vocabulary and language, applied bandages, wrote prescriptions and treatment notes and couldn’t have enough cuddles with the guinea pigs. Thank you Alana for all your expertise and help! Thank you to Clarendon Equine Veterinary Clinic for donating some old x-rays! They were fabulous.

One of the wonderful advantages of being a Childminder means we can go out and explore the beauty on our doorstep. We took the children to Markshall Estate to continue our ‘woodland habitat’ focus. We got so much more! Absolutely stunning conservation landscape with trees native to all over the world. The children loved the Eucalyptus trees. We bumped into ducklings which then led us to the carp in the pond and we fed the ducklings and carp together to the children’s delight! The forest school area was beautiful in its simplicity and use of natural resources. Such an inspiring, peaceful place for us all.

The children were oblivious to the chill in the air and enjoyed the Spring sunshine as we worked fine motor skills hammering and weaving our nature logs with what we could find in the field. Beautiful 🌼

I always love a new season to focus the children’s attention onto the little clues we find around us to the changes in the season.... daffodils, blossom, birdsong, wild rabbits, nest building, bees, lighter evenings....the muddy puddle drying up! (Always rehydrated though!)
