This was one of our activities last weekend working towards finding a percentage of an amount.

Finding 1% or 10%, or any percentage of an amount, can initially seem like an abstract concept but many children can work out fractions of an amount and that’s all percentages are - they just look different.

Percentages are reliable fractions - their denominators are always 100.

But how can you divide by 100 if you haven’t practised that for months?

This was a fun way to build fluency in a key skill that is essential for calculating percentages in a future session.

StationeryFest was unbelievably lovely, and an extra special year as I was trusted with a microphone and allowed to talk about my love of stationery despite the very real risk of the only sound escaping me being a long, excited squeak.

Thanks as always to for making this event so wonderful - for the unity and creativity and happiness.
