We are delighted to announce our newly created preschool - a warm, welcoming and inspiring space where our youngest children can explore, play, create and grow.

Every area has been thoughtfully designed to encourage curiosity, independence and a lifelong love of learning, while helping each child feel safe, happy and at home within the Elm Green community.

🚀 Out of This World! 🪐

A massive shout-out to our amazing Year 6 Prefects who recently launched a fantastic whole-school science competition challenging students to design their very own planet! 🌍✨

We were blown away by the creativity, scientific thinking, and pure imagination that went into every single entry. From diamond-rain atmospheres to gravity-defying ecosystems, our students truly reached for the stars! 🌟

A huge congratulations to everyone who took part! The effort and dedication shown across all year groups made judging incredibly difficult for our prefects.

"It's been so wonderful to see our Year 6 Prefects stepping up, leading by example, and getting so actively involved with the rest of the school community. You've inspired some serious future scientists!"

What an incredible day at the District Sports! 🏅

A huge congratulations to all of our amazing athletes for their outstanding effort, determination, and teamwork. Together, we proudly finished in 3rd place overall, bringing home the bronze position – a fantastic achievement!

There were also some brilliant individual performances across both the track and field events, with everyone giving their absolute best and representing the school with pride.

A special well done to both of our relay teams, who raced brilliantly to secure silver medals. 🥈🥈 Your teamwork, determination, and support for one another were outstanding!

We are so proud of every single competitor. Thank you to our staff, supporters, and families for cheering everyone on throughout the day. Congratulations to all involved – you should be incredibly proud of your achievements! 👏🎉

🌿🦋 Year 1 have just returned from a fantastic trip to Hanningfield Reservoir, where they spent the day learning all about habitats and food chains.

The children became young nature explorers as they enjoyed bird watching, built woodland dens, took part in field sweeping to discover and identify insects, and learned how to recognise different trees. It was a wonderful hands-on experience that brought their classroom learning to life.

Everyone had a brilliant day exploring the outdoors, asking lots of questions and discovering more about the amazing wildlife around us. Well done, Year 1, for representing our school so brilliantly! 🌳🐦🐞

🌾☀️ Year 4 had a fantastic time at the Essex Food and Farming Day this week!

Despite the hot weather, the children embraced the sunshine and enjoyed a brilliant day learning all about where our food comes from, meeting farm animals, exploring farming machinery and taking part in a range of exciting, hands-on activities.

They represented our school wonderfully and returned full of smiles, new knowledge and great memories.

A huge well done to all of our Year 4 children for braving the heat and making the most of such a fantastic learning experience! 🚜🐑🌽

🎨🍂☀️❄️ Congratulations to the winners of our Year 6 Art Prefect Competition, themed Seasons!

This wonderful competition was organised and judged by our Year 6 children, with entries submitted from across the whole school. We were amazed by the incredible creativity, effort and artistic talent on display.

With so many fantastic entries, choosing the winners was no easy task! Thank you to everyone who took part and helped make the competition such a success.

📚🎶 We were delighted to welcome Fleur Medcroft today, who visited to tell the children all about the 2026 Summer Reading Challenge: Read to the Beat!

The children were completely enthralled as Fleur introduced some fantastic new books and shared all the exciting details about the challenge. They discovered the 12 different activities they can take part in over the summer through Essex Public Libraries, all designed to inspire a love of reading while having lots of fun.

We hope the children are feeling inspired and ready to take on the challenge – happy reading everyone! 📖✨

Our Kindergarten class braved the weather last Thursday for their exciting trip to Danbury Park! 🌧️🍃

Despite the rain, the children had a fantastic time exploring the outdoors, discovering nature, and taking part in a range of fun activities. Their enthusiasm, curiosity, and resilience shone through all day, making it a memorable experience for everyone involved.

We were delighted to welcome author Rachel Chivers Khoo to school on Tuesday for an inspiring visit with our children in Years 2–5.

Rachel introduced pupils to her exciting Finders of Silverthorn Forest series and shared what life is like as a professional writer. The children were captivated as they explored the key features of a quest narrative and discovered how authors create engaging characters, settings and adventures.

During the session, Rachel shared her top story-writing tips, encouraging our young writers to use their imagination, build suspense and develop exciting plots. Pupils left feeling motivated and full of creative ideas for their own stories!

A huge thank you to Rachel for such an engaging and memorable day that has inspired a love of reading and writing across our school.

📚✨ Elm Green Book Day – Year 6 Effort! ✨📚

Year 6 truly outdid themselves for Elm Green Book Day this year! In true democratic style, the class held a vote to decide their costume theme… and what a result it was!

The majority choice was revealed when they all proudly walked down the lane together.

A huge well done to Year 6 for embracing the fun and making the day so memorable. It was fantastic to see everyone getting involved and celebrating the joy of reading in such a brilliant way.
