One of my students came to me as a relatively new sewer, keen to build their confidence in garment making. They wanted to better understand how to follow sewing patterns, achieve the correct fit, make sense of pattern terminology, and learn techniques that would simplify the sewing process.

After just three lessons, they felt much more confident in their skills and understanding. They were able to continue independently and create their own handmade garments to wear and enjoy.

Barbara has been busy altering a large banner for the charity Animals Asia Foundation. 🧵✨

She started by learning on her mother’s sewing machine, and together we were able to find the machine manual so Barbara could learn the very basics with confidence. Since then, she has progressed wonderfully onto more advanced sewing projects.

It’s been lovely to see her skills and confidence grow while working on such a meaningful project. Well done Barbara! 👏

There’s something so rewarding about helping a student turn a pile of beautiful fabrics into something they feel confident creating themselves ✂️🧵

Katie brought along a gorgeous selection of fabrics, and together we worked on patchwork techniques by breaking everything down into simple, manageable steps. We focused on understanding the process, building confidence with accurate cutting and piecing together.

Patchwork can feel overwhelming at first, but once it’s broken down step by step, it becomes such a creative and enjoyable skill to learn. It’s been lovely watching Katie’s confidence grow throughout the session and seeing her patchwork start to come together beautifully 💛
