It has been lovely to hear from my year 11’s today with their exam results and the new adventures they are heading onto in September.

Whether your results were what you wanted, not what you expected for better or for worse you should all be incredibly proud of the achievements of today! GCSE’s are not easy for everyone and the work you put into them needs to be acknowledged.

If you are finding yourself in the position today where you need to resit your maths GCSE this November and would like some support with that then please do get in touch.

I hope the celebrations are fabulous this evening — Avril

Although exams are over for students, the hard work continues at this time of year for the majority of people working in education.

Teachers and tutors immediately turn their attention to year 10 and year 12. Looking to support them with the transition into their exam year.

Alongside this many members of the teaching community are working hard to get those exams marked in time for results days.

This year I have spent the past 3 weeks marking both GCSE and A-level exam papers. Each time I do this I learn some new valuable lessons which I take with me into my teaching practice the following year.

I look forward to using this new knowledge to support my students next year. My timetable is open for September starts - please get in touch if your looking for and experienced maths tutor to support you [email protected]

Now we wait for results days sand enjoy our summer holidays! 🤩

I’ve enjoyed spending time playing hide and seek with my children this week. Their choice of hiding spots are interesting though!

As my exam students are now beginning to enjoy their summer holiday, I am starting to mark for the exam boards.

This year I am marking two GCSE papers and one A-level. I have been doing this for a few years now and truly believe it has taught me a lot about the best and most efficient ways to achieve high marks in the exams. It is a very good form of professional development. And has given me a real understanding of what the exam boards are expecting from the students. This is one of the reasons I am able to support my students to develop their understanding and fine tune their exam technique so well.

I really enjoy the relationships that I am able to build with not just the students I’m working with but their families as well whilst tutoring. I am excited to see where the students I’ve worked with this year end up in September 🙂

I am also looking forward to welcoming a new cohort of tutees for September - if you are interested in talking to me to see what I can offer then message or email me 😁

Last week I said goodbye to all my GCSE students and this week I say goodbye to my A-level students. They have all worked so hard this year and I wish them the best of luck in their final exam on Thursday.

Depending on exam board they may be doing statistics and mechanics (Edexcel), pure and comprehension (OCR MEI) or pure and statistics (AQA). This is where exam technique and revision strategies are so important since for some exam boards they are mixing the applied in with the pure and others are keeping it separate. I have worked with students on all 3 exam boards to support them with their revision.

If you are in year 12 and feeling a little overwhelmed, worrying about upcoming mocks or recently received mock results that are not quite what you hoped for then I’m here to help - send me a message or email to discuss trial sessions before the summer and what I can do to help 🙂
