📢 National Cadet Week 2026

Next week, 5–11 October, is National Cadet Week!

Here at Lisnagarvey High School, we’re proud to recognise our pupils and staff who are part of the Cadet Forces and the commitment they show both in school and within their local communities.

National Cadet Week is a chance to celebrate everything cadets get involved in — from developing leadership, teamwork and confidence to gaining new skills, qualifications and making some brilliant memories along the way.

Throughout next week, we’ll be highlighting some of our cadets and celebrating their achievements. 👏

Today, we were delighted to present a cheque for £1,389.56 to Just A Chat.

This fantastic amount was raised by our students through sponsorship for taking part in the Lisburn Fun Run in June 2026. We are incredibly proud of everyone who contributed, whether by running, donating, or collecting sponsorship.

A huge well done to all involved. Our students continue to amaze us with their generosity and commitment to supporting worthwhile causes, and this is another outstanding example of that community spirit.

Last Friday the Year10 football team played their first league match against Forthill College. The team dominated much of the game from the start with the whole team playing really well. Notable performance include Theo, Lucas and Liam at the back while Caleb in midfield and Jaxon on the right wing had great games, Sam up front gave Forthill all sorts of problems however it was Will in centre midfield who controlled the game and didn’t give Forthill a chance to play. The score ended 5 – 2 to Lisnagarvey with Sam picking up four goals and Noah getting the other. A Great performance from the team who look forward to their next game.

✨ From the Classroom to the Clouds: A Leap of Faith for a Great Cause ✨

Following our massive fundraising efforts before June, the day we had all been waiting for finally came on Saturday, 5th September. Two very brave members of our school community—Head Boy David and staff member Mr McAuley—took to the skies over the beautiful North Coast for their charity skydive!

The day started with a comprehensive safety briefing on how to exit the aircraft and land safely. With the instructions firmly onboard, the duo prepared for take-off. After a scenic 15-minute plane ride, both were incredibly keen to jump at the earliest opportunity.

With expert guidance from their Skydive instructors, Neil and Simon, the time arrived. Mr McAuley leaped out first, closely followed by David. In a rush of pure thrill and adrenaline, they freefell from over 15,000 feet at 120mph before their parachutes opened to reveal spectacular, green views and the famous landmarks of the North Coast.

Both landed safely, buzzing with stories and memories from a truly fantastic opportunity.

We are absolutely thrilled to announce that thanks to your incredible generosity, they have raised over £1,900 for Air Ambulance Northern Ireland! This vital money will help keep their life-saving service in the air. 🚁❤️

A massive thank you to Neil, Simon, and the team at SkyDive Ireland, and a heartfelt thanks to everyone who donated to support this cause! 🙌🪂
