What a year! ❤️ I have had the privilege of guiding six students through their Grade 8 piano exams in 2026. Some of these wonderful young people have been taking lessons with me for over a decade and others I have been delighted to meet at various stages on their musical journeys.

The world of instrumental teaching has changed so much in the past decade and that is represented in how these students sat their examinations…

2x LCM practical (in person)
1x LCM recital (in person)
1x LCM practical (recorded)
1x MTB practical (recorded)
1x MTB performance (recorded)

All of these carry the same OFQUAL accreditation and UCAS points. 🧑‍🎓 It has been a delight for me to help each student access an exam format to fit around other academic commitments and display their musical skills effectively.

Congratulations to all and best wishes on your next adventures ❤️

Thrilled for my wonderful student Sarah who has passed her DipLCM in Teaching with flying colours!

One of the huge privileges in this job is getting to join students on a musical journey over the course of many years… Sarah started lessons in November 2014 and is now running her own teaching studio. From In the Hall of the Mountain Bear, to Christmas Trios, a virtuosic arrangement of Amazing Grace, and a Mozart Sonata what a journey it has been!

Huge congratulations to Sarah for over a decade of hard work and enthusiasm! 🎉 I’m a proud teacher today.

Here at EPTA Belfast we are very much looking forward to our first event of the year - Joanna Garcia, a very inspiring teacher. The event will be at Queen’s University Belfast and it’s a free event. It a great opportunity to meet up with piano teaching colleagues, and if you are someone new to the profession you will be made to feel most welcome.

I was honoured to play at the wedding of a past student today. It was a beautiful ceremony and a pleasure to play lovely music selections with talented musicians. Congratulations to Erin and her husband David.
